GMA Pinoy TV Launches “Power ng Pinoy” this September

GMA PR:

A new weekly television show that will introduce and salute successful Filipino individuals, groups and corporations will be launched on September 2011 and shown every Sunday nights thereafter through GMA Pinoy TV.

Dubbed Power ng Pinoy, the weekly 30-minute documentary program will feature Filipino shakers and movers that made and continue to make a difference in the lives of Filipinos in the U.S. and in the Philippines.

It will also feature entertaining side stories that would strengthen and further solidify the bond of the Filipino community in general.

Power ng Pinoy seeks to empower and provide inspiration to fellow Filipinos in their continuous perseverance and sacrifice to realize their American dream while educating viewers on some of our history’s significant achievers and greatest treasures.

A unique and valuable highlight of the show is its primary emphasis on how featured guests give back to the community as it strongly believes that true success is not only about achieving one’s goals and dreams but also about sharing what one achieves with the society in general and the Filipino community in particular.

For its pilot episode, Power ng Pinoy is slated to present the humble beginnings of Dado Banatao, who was born to a rice farmer and housekeeper in small barrio in Cagayan Valley, where he used to walk barefoot to school in dirt roads and, because of hard work and dedication, is now a veteran entrepreneur and venture capitalist in the Silicon Valley, California.

Others in the line-up of featured stories include ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” perennial champion Cheryl Burke, the FAA-certified armless Filipina pilot Jessica Cox, Gawad Kalinga board member Joe Millares, the first Filipino UC Berkeley Professor Ben de Lumen, Milpitas, California City Mayor Jose Estevez and “Project Runway” finalist Jay Sario, among others.

Power ng Pinoy is co-produced by GMA Pinoy TV and Prowave Media, a wholly Filipino-owned media company based in Silicon Valley. For more information about the show, please visit the show\'s website at www.powerngpinoy.tv or Facebook page at http://facebook.com/PowerNgPinoy.

GMA News TV International: Included in Top 20 Channels in Guam; well received in Australia

GMA NEWS:

An overwhelming number of feedbacks have greeted GMA News TV International a few weeks after it went on-air in Australia and Guam, showing that it not only delivers timely, comprehensive local news and encompassing public affairs programs from the Philippines, but also proves that it is indeed the answer to the Filipinos’ hunger for an all-news Pinoy channel.

GMA News TV International, a 24-hour channel, was born out of GMA Network’s desire to answer the global Filipinos’ yearning for the latest news and issues in the Philippines. It is backed by the most trusted, most credible, and most awarded broadcast news organization in the Philippines – GMA Network’s News and Public Affairs team.

Bringing to Filipinos worldwide this news, public affairs, and documentary channel that uses the Filipino language has brought in positive feedbacks as shared by GMA News International’s affiliates in Australia and Guam.

“GMA Network, with its three international channels GMA News TV International, GMA Pinoy TV, and GMA Life TV, offers Filipinos good value, unique, and high quality Pinoy programming. We believe the addition of the GMA News TV International channel will continue to strengthen the appeal of Fetch TV to Australia’s Filipino population," says Scott Lorson, CEO of Australia’s Fetch TV.

In Guam, GMA News TV International has been among the top 20 channels since it was first viewed on GTA’s GUdTV on July 8.

“GMA News TV International is doing very well here in Guam as many of GTA’s Filipino market base have shown overwhelming interest in adding it to their channel lineup. Like GMA Pinoy TV, it’s been consistently landing a spot in the top 20 channels due to its significant daily viewership. This only proves that GMA News TV International meets the Filipino community’s demand for programming content that’s unique from the rest," says Karen Gayle, product and content manager of GUdTV.

According to Joseph T. Francia, vice president and head of operations for GMA International, the warm reception to GMA News TV International was enough reward for the network’s move to give what Filipinos abroad have all been asking for – a GMA-branded channel that’s dedicated to news from the Philippines.

“We are encouraged by the very positive response to GMA News TV International. Apart from Australia and Guam, we also recently launched GMA News TV International in Japan, where the channel is now on test broadcast through our affiliate Access TV. We are committed to bringing the channel to even more parts of the globe in the coming months. " he says. - KBK
