THE AVENGERS (2012) - On-Set Character Photos

"The Avengers" has just completed filming and is ready to enter the post-production stages. As a last chance for fans to get a look at the real live versions of the beloved Marvel comic book heroes, a series of new images have been made public on the Internet. The photos show Captain America (Chris Evans), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on the set. The movie also stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man/Tony Stark and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Written and directed by Joss Whedon ("Serenity", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" TV series), "The Avengers" opens in theaters on May 4th, 2012. Box-Office Report - Week of 22 July, 2011

Since last week's spectacular opening, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" has taken it down a notch, dropping down to second place, but is still doing spectacular business. It has now become the third movie with a big juicy seven-day total ever, behind "The Dark Knight" and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen". Read on to see who is number one at the box-office.

THE AVENGERS - Seven Character Posters

Marvel has released four character posters with the occasion of the Comic-Con. The posters feature the iconic Avengers : Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner). Other avengers that will appear in the movie are Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). "Marvel's The Avengers" will be released in 2012 on May 4th and is written and directed by Joss Whedon ("Serenity"). Remember, you can click to see the pictures full-size.

Here are two new featurettes for "Captain America: The First Avenger", Marvel Studios' latest comic book adaptation, directed by Joe Johnston ("Jumanji", "Jurassic Park III") and starring Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Natalie Dormer, Stanley Tucci and Dominic Cooper. The featurettes offer interesting insight into the movie's production provided by the cast and crew. Opens on July 22, 2011 (US).

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER (2011) - Alan Silvestri's Original Score Preview

This is a 13 minute preview of the original score for "Captain America: The First Avenger", composed by Alan Silvestri. I'm a big fan of Alan Silvestri's work, particularly his scores for Robert Zemeckis' movies, "Forrest Gump", "Contact", "Cast Away", "The Polar Express" and, of course, the "Back to the Future" trilogy. The composer has over 100 scores in his resume and two Oscar nominations for Best Original Song ("Believe" - "The Polar Express") and Best Original Score ("Forrest Gump").

CAPTAIN AMERICA (2011) - 'Behind the Shield' Featurette

The Featurette sets up the backstory of the character and gives us plenty of details about the concept and making of the Shield, Captain America's tool of inflicting justice on the bad guys. It's a bit annoying how Norton conceived their product placement in the featurette. The whole buy-me concept is completely wasted on me, though. I use Avira. "Captain America: The First Avenger" comes out on July 22, 2011.
