Box-Office Report - Week of 22 July, 2011

Since last week's spectacular opening, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" has taken it down a notch, dropping down to second place, but is still doing spectacular business. It has now become the third movie with a big juicy seven-day total ever, behind "The Dark Knight" and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen". Read on to see who is number one at the box-office.

There's not much reason to pick on Michael Bay's "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" here. The production was no doubt costly and time was short, so they picked up some shots from Bay's "The Island" and applied CGI robots on top of them. Still, the Visual Effects wizards did a great job, and one of the scenes in the video looks to be an unused angle of the scene in the 2005 sci-fi actioner, so it's not really a big deal. I was impressed however, at how sharp these guys were to spot the scenes. I, honestly, wouldn't have unless I watched both movies back-to-back. These guys must be hardcore Michael Bay fans. Lots and lots of brand new footage that hasn't been shown before, in the countless trailers and TV Spots that came before, reveal more of the explosive action in Michael Bay's sci-fi epic. TRANSFORMERS 3 (2011) - Invasion TV Spot

The newest of the TV Spots for "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" focuses more on the invasion theme of the movie. The epic action sci-fi, directed by Michael Bay ("Bad Boys", "Armageddon") opens on June 29, 2011.

Official Synopsis: The Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009’s Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There’s new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime “Transformers” character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.
