Greta Van Susteren and Tucker Carlson have a knock down, drag out, hair pulling, slap fight over Sarah Palin. Don't forget your popcorn!

Van Sustern: You're a liar!

Carlson: No I'm not!

Van Susteren: Yes you are!

Carlson: Am not! Am not! Am not!

I think I will play this over an over today whenever I am feeling a little down. It cannot fail to put a huge smile on my face.

Jimmy Kimmel asks "Would you sleep with Sarah Palin?"

That is hysterical!

I loved the guy that said he would sleep with her, but not vote for her.

This kind of goes hand in hand with this article from the New York Daily News which claims that Palin is now nothing more than an x-rated punchline. (Seriously? Was she ever REALLY anything more than that?):

The allegation about Rice, of course, is just one more swinging strike against Palin, who has become the world's most famous hypocrite/talk-show host/Presidential wannabe in a land of tarnished political souls on both sides of the aisle. Palin was a non-running joke before this material surfaced. She is now an X-rated punch line.

If Joe McGinniss's book does nothing else (And I am quite confident it will do quite a lot more), just the fact alone that it has now made it completely impossible for Palin to get the support from her base to even start a fake temporary political campaign, should make Americans everywhere feel forever in his debt.

Sarah Palin reporting on Glen Rice's basketball team for KTUU three months after they did the nasty.

Courtesy of Deadspin:

Just about three months after her alleged one-night stand with Michigan star player Glen Rice, Sarah Palin (then Sarah Heath) reported on a Wolverines game for Anchorage's KTUU-TV. In the clip above, she's reporting on Michigan's 80-67 loss against Purdue on March 3, 1988 in to clinch the Big Ten championship game. Her alleged former lover had just 11 points and shot 5 for 16 from the field in the game, so he goes unmentioned.

Okay this might just be the result of knowing that Palin and Rice bumped uglies, but does EVERYTHING she says in this sportscast seem packed with sexual innuendo to anybody else?

Stars Film Commercial For Metropolitan Opera

The slogan for the 2011-12 season at the Metropolitan Opera is "At any moment, a great moment." A great credit to the marketing department that gathered big names like Katie Couric, Samantha Bee, Patti Smith and Christine Baranski, to talk about their experiences at the opera. "With seven new productions, 19 repertory classics, and a new Ring cycle—anything can happen on the stage of the Met. Don't miss the 2011--12 season!"

Everything you need to know about the Teabaggers is represented by this pathetic excuse for a human being, Tony Katz. Update.

There was an exchange on MSNBC earlier today between this bloated piece of shit and Jamal Simmons in response to these statements by Teamster President James Hoffa directed toward the Tea Party:

“President Obama, this is your army,” Hoffa concluded to applause, his voice raising to a shout. “We are ready to march. Let’s take these sons of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong,” he said, stepping back from the lectern where President Obama would speak less than an hour later.

“There’s a war on working Americans and we are getting sick and tired of it,” Hoffa told ABC News Tuesday morning. “It’s absolutely a war. They declared war on us. We didn’t declare war on them. They’re the ones that introduced right to work in 14 states, and went after public employee bargaining rights in both Wisconsin and Ohio. We’re fighting them across the board. They want to roll the clock back to about 1900.”

Now this is video of what Katz said about Hoffa, the Democrats, and President Obama. I am going to warn you ahead of time that he is an especially nasty piece of work, and what he said literally had me shouting at the television and wanting DESPERATELY to be in the same room with him for just five uninterrupted minutes.

That, my friends, is the face of the Tea Party in this country. THAT is the kind of sloppy, porcine piece of human excrement that is given a platform on our airwaves to attack our President.

I mean for God's sake Gandhi himself would have punched that guy in the throat!

Update: Here is Hoffa's FULL quote:

President Obama this is your army. We are ready to march. And president Obama we want one thing: Jobs. Jobs. Jobs. Jobs. Jobs. Jobs. Jobs. Jobs. That's what we’re going to tell him. He’s going to be - and when he sees what we’re doing here he will be inspired. But he needs help and you know what? Everybody here's got to vote. If we go back and keep the eye on the prize, let's take these sons of a bitches out and give America back to America where we belong! Thank you very much!

I am sorry, I thought everybody knew that Hoffa was talking about voting the Teabaggers out. I will make sure to be more clear in the future.

Has Palin's political prick tease finally run out of pricks to tease?

'Padded, pancaked, and Prozac'd!"
"Wow, there are so few of you here I can block out half of of the audience by just holding up my thumb. I'm still getting paid for this right?"
"Well how much money IS in your trust fund? You never know,  if you donated a chunk of it to SarahPAC I might run."
"Your sign's not misspelled and you have all your teeth. Are you sure you're a member of the Tea Party?"
"Drenched all the way down to my size 47 BVDs after standing in the rain for five hours, and she still refuses to announce whether she's running or not! If she does this two or three more times I am out of here!"
According to several news outlets there were about two thousand people at this rally.

Now admittedly I am not a math whiz, but does THIS look like two thousand people to you?

But you know things like math, or speeches that make sense, or even ever actually launching a campaign, don't make any real difference.  All that matters is whether or not Snowdrift Snooki provided JUST enough hope for her crazed fans to still convince themselves that she is really and for true going to launch a Presidential campaign. Which will then convince them to keep sending her that wonderful money.

And it looks like she managed to hold off her inevitable nervous breakdown long enough to achieve that very goal.

From the Sea O'Pee:

Of all days to worry about whether or not Governor Palin is running for President, as far as I can tell, today would not be that day. I can’t say for sure, as I certainly have no inside information, but I do have common sense. Common sense tells me that unless one has an incredible amount of free time on her hands, she doesn’t devise a specific, detail-laden plan for America like the one Governor Palin delivered to the country today, if she weren’t planning to implement that plan. Perhaps there are some out there who have that kind of free time, with nothing better to do, but we have all seen what kind of schedule the Governor keeps; she’s not one of those people sitting around looking for something to do. Common sense also tells me that she doesn’t have to do things our way. In fact, she won’t do it anyone’s way but her own. Common sense says that if Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton could make their presidential intentions known in November and October, respectively, September is not too late.

So here’s my question: Should not common sense tell the worry warts the same thing?

It is like shooting crippled fish, in a really tiny barrel.

Sarah Palin pulls it together in Indianola, Iowa for last ditch effort to stay relevant to her Teabagger base.

Wearing more body padding than a NFL linebacker, more makeup than circus clown, and many times almost screaming her attacks on President Obama, Sarah Palin puts on quite a show in Iowa.

After seeing what she was like yesterday I had my doubts that Palin could get her shit together for this speech. But you have to hand it to her, when it is time to shake her carefully padded money maker she knows exactly how hard to shake it, and whose face to shake it in.

Clearly this was a speech that somebody worked on for quite some time.

It did not seem to miss one opportunity to attack President Obama, one opportunity to suck up to the Teabaggers, or one opportunity to put her GOP rivals on notice that she can still give them a run for their money. At one point Palin even kissed up to the corporations who have not always been her biggest fans by calling for the end to ALL corporate income taxes.

I have to admit I was very impressed with how her special effects team was able to transform her from the frail, sickly creature we saw yesterday to the Dolly Parton lookalike that stood on that stage in Iowa today.

Well what can you expect from the woman who successfully fooled virtually every journalist in the world into believing that she was pregnant and gave birth in 2008? Hell compared to that, this was a walk in the park for the queen of body morphing.

However those who have been paying attention know what Sarah Palin REALLY looks like.

And it ain't Dolly Parton!

The Difference of Two Years for Soprano Margaret Windler

Thanks to "proudpop53" on YouTube, the world was introduced to a fresh-faced high school soprano named Margaret Windler singing a popular Italian song. After being viewed over 35,000 times, it seems as though the soprano has grown up a bit and new videos have been posted of a recital that features the singer in much more mature repertoire. Get more information at her website by clicking here.

Click on the photo to launch the soprano singing "Piangete voi?...Al dolce guidami"
from Donizetti's Anna Bolena.
"Maggie’s singing career began on her own front porch at the tender age of four. Serenading the neighbors with show tunes from Rogers & Hammerstein was just the beginning. Six years with the St. Louis Cathedral Children’s Choir instilled a love for traditional choral music. Various roles in high school musicals and choral competitions convinced her that singing was to be her career. Maggie is currently majoring in vocal performance at Tulane University." [Source]

This is how a leader handles a disaster and puts the minds of Americans at ease.

I swear it feels like President Obama is always prepared for just about ANYTHING that might come our way.

Of course there are some who are criticizing the response to this storm as "overkill."

But as we all know if the President had not been so completely on the ball he would have been slammed for leaving the country unprepared for the damage left in its wake.

Hell they are already giving him shit for not ending his vacation earlier, even though it is clear he was able to handle both it and spend time with his family at the same time without a hitch.

Meeting President Obama blows this young man's mind!

Okay this guy is pretty young, and perhaps he overreacts just a tad, but I have to say that his unbridled enthusiasm got me kind of giddy right along with him.

(Click here if the video will not play for you.)

"Sarah Palin had more talent in her little finger than all the stuffed shirt DC Republicans combined!" Most cognitive dissonant defense of the Grizzled Mama ever!

Why is it that when anybody simply asks Sarah Palin questions, or brings up her lack of knowledge about things a leader should know, that it is referred to by these Palin pantie sniffers as a "campaign to destroy Sarah Palin?"

This guy knows absolutely NOTHING about this woman that he claims to admire so much, but he is the perfect example of the male who supports this crazy nutjob because clearly his "little head" is doing the thinking instead of his big head.

And if that was not enough comedy for you, though it should be, check out Palin's recent ghostwritten Facebook post in which she actually tries to give President Obama ADVICE ON WHAT TO DO IN LIBYA! (No, I am NOT kidding!)

The whole thing is pretty ridiculous but I especially like this part where Palin suggests that the White House NOT celebrate the victory over this madman:

First, the White House needs to avoid triumphalism. Gaddafi may be gone, but the fighting may not be complete. As we’ve seen in Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan, we must not celebrate too quickly. There are now mounting concerns that we will see tribal and sectarian fighting in Libya like we saw in Iraq. Let’s hope that is not the case, but it must be prepared for.

Yeah it would be really horrible if the President were a childish nincompoop who dressed up like a warrior, faked flying a jet onto an aircraft carrier, and then had a giant banner put up saying "Mission Accomplished."

But let's face it, THAT is not what Palin is worried about.

She would fucking LOVE IT, if the President were to throw a party in celebration of the Libya victory, and then have the whole thing blow up in his face.

That would make Klondike Kardashian's day.  Hell it would make her entire week!

She would rub that in his face all over Fox News, all over Facebook, and all over the country in speech, after speech, after speech.

No that is not what she is worried about. What she is concerned with is that it WILL be a victory. And that supporters of the President will then rub that victory in HER face.  You know, for going overseas to India and criticizing our President for "dithering,"and then later having another Facebook post ghostwritten for her demanding that the President "justify our Libyan involvement" to the American people.

Palin is not worried that this will not be a real victory for our President, our military, and our country. She is worried that it WILL be.

And what does that worry reveal about the truth of Sarah Palin's patriotism?

President Obama's Weekly Address: Putting Country ahead of Party.

This was definitely a message to Americans about who is REALLY gumming up the works and keeping solutions from being implemented to solve our financial problems.

Too bad the teabagging Republicans are too myopic to understand that their obstructionism is hurting their constituents and causing the very problems that they were sent to Congress to solve.

However I really do believe that the American voters are beginning to see through deceptive tactics used by those who are trying to lay the blame solely at the President's feet, and that that will be confirmed in the next election cycle.

SarahPAC creates another campaign commercial for Sarah Palin's non-existent campaign.

So let me get this straight.

SarahPAC spends their donations on air travel, bus rental, and hotel costs for Sarah Palin, and whichever family member she can bribe/convince/threaten to come with her, so that she can travel to a certain venue in the United States.

Then Palin is filmed walking around, shaking hands, and answering a few reporters questions.

That footage is then very carefully edited to make it appear that she did something political.

The same soaring soundtrack that was in her previous pseudo political advertisements is then added to tug at the heartstrings of the viewers.

After that the whole thing is thrown up on various pro-Palin websites to encourage MORE donations to SarahPAC, which are necessary to pay for the NEXT fake political appearance, in order to obtain MORE footage to use in the NEXT fake political commercial, which can then be used to grift MORE money from the slowest learners on the planet.

Do I have that about right?

A couple of things to note.

First, we now understand the reason behind this huge, gaudy bracelet that Palin wore in Iowa.

If you watch the video you will notice that EVERY time she shakes someones hand the red, white and ridiculous accoutrement is prominently displayed, sending the subliminal message that Palin is super-duper patriotic.

Second there were also a large number of brown people in the video, which proves, once again, that Palin is definitely reading the comments here and recognized that people noticed that her other videos had featured ONLY white folks.

Third, there was a LOT of effort this time to show Palin answering questions from REPORTERS.

Clearly that is in response to criticisms that she never spoke to any members of the press except Fox News talking heads.  Which means to me, that Palin purposefully went out of her way to talk to reporters specifically for THIS video.

"Wait, are you saying that she used me?"
Yes Don Lemon, yes I am.

So Palin swoops into Iowa, distracts the media from covering the REAL candidates running for the GOP nomination, and gets a fundraising video out of the deal as well. Pretty slick.

The only down side for Sister Sarah is that she managed to piss off almost everybody who ever supported her.  But as long as she can still string along the dipshits over at the Sea O' Pea, and get them to send her their hard earned money, I am not sure she even gives a flying crap about whose toes she steps on.

Which I guess really only leaves one question left to answer about Snowdrift Snooki's next move.

Michele Bachmann says the darnedest things.

Now see you may have just woken up this morning feeling a little down on yourself, and thinking "I really wish I could see a video of somebody that made me feel like Einstein by comparison."

You're welcome.

Have a nice day!

Texas apologizes for Rick Perry. Well I should think so!

(H/T to Politicususa for the video.)

Well I appreciate the thought Texas, but you will have to do better than that! I mean seriously, WTF?

Rick Perry, or "Governor Good Hair" as Molly Ivins referred to him, may be perhaps the most dangerous Teabagger in the Republican party at this point in time.

He is George W. Bush with fewer functioning brain cells, Rick Santorum with even more hatred toward women, and Sarah Palin with slightly larger clitoris.

In other words he is all of the bad fixins of the Tea Party, rolled up in a spicy Texas tortilla, and molded to look like George Bush if he had his Id set free after shotgunning Dr. Jeckyl's potion.

But the slack jawed, knuckle dragging, dimwit is more than just a simple minded, anti-government, secessionist, with a chimp like face.

"How come everybody always looks at me like that when I say Evolution's not real?"
He is an extremely aggressive campaigner, who has a reputation for grinding his opponents under the wheels of his metaphorical monster truck. and whose many failings sound like the masturbatory fantasies of today's Teabagging GOP:

Perry has flaws, huge flaws. Not the least of which is that he presided over the execution of one of his constituents, Cameron Todd Willingham, who was probably innocent. But I’m not sure that's a liability in today's Tea Party–obsessed GOP. There’s a legend in Lone Star politics that one of Perry’s Republican rivals in Texas tested the Willingham issue in a focus group. One Republican man, the story goes, squinted and said, “Well, I like that. Takes a lot of balls to execute an innocent man.” At that moment, folks say, Perry’s rival knew opposing him was fruitless.

However, besides the fact when we close our eyes and listen to him speak he sounds EXACTLY like the guy who fucked this country up in the first place, the thing that might REALLY derail Perry's run at the nomination is his much vaunted, yet completely overblown, ability to create jobs. Which is so important to his campaign that he even had it stenciled, Sarah Palin style, on his rather uninspiring bus.

Here let Paul Krugman explain it to you:

Still, does Texas job growth point the way to faster job growth in the nation as a whole? No.

What Texas shows is that a state offering cheap labor and, less important, weak regulation can attract jobs from other states. I believe that the appropriate response to this insight is “Well, duh.” The point is that arguing from this experience that depressing wages and dismantling regulation in America as a whole would create more jobs — which is, whatever Mr. Perry may say, what Perrynomics amounts to in practice — involves a fallacy of composition: every state can’t lure jobs away from every other state.

In fact, at a national level lower wages would almost certainly lead to fewer jobs — because they would leave working Americans even less able to cope with the overhang of debt left behind by the housing bubble, an overhang that is at the heart of our economic problem.

So when Mr. Perry presents himself as the candidate who knows how to create jobs, don’t believe him. His prescriptions for job creation would work about as well in practice as his prayer-based attempt to end Texas’s crippling drought.

So much for that.

However will Rick Perry most likely overshadow Michele "Watch me eat a corndog" Bachmann?

Yes, he will.

Does he present a REAL challenge to the equally follicly resplendent Mitt Romney?

Yup.

Will he eventually win the GOP nomination?

Hell if I know!

That depends on just how much control the Teabagger-Borg now exerts over the Republican party.

If the rootin' tootin' Yosemite Sam faction of the party now has a death grip on the steering wheel, and is determined to "drive this bitch over a cliff," than Rick Perry is going to be standing on the debate stage next to President Obama, Thesaurus in hand, as he tries to figure out "what in the sam hill" the President just said that made him look like such a fucking imbecile.

However if the Grand Ole Party kicks the frat boys to the curb, and starts thinking with their wallets instead of their dicks, they will certainly choose Mitt Romney, who will actually be able to stand on the stage and sound reasonably competent.

I mean yeah he'll still lose, since the Evangelicals hate his Mormon Tabernacle ass and he puts audiences to sleep faster than warm milk spiked with Ambien, but at least he will not embarrass the entire party before he goes down for the count.

That said, I am still not taking my eyes off of Rick Perry for an instant.  Just like Sarah Palin, I think he could be a very dangerous individual to have running lose across this nation, even if he does NOT get the nomination.

Reflections on a Career: Isola Jones

Isola Jones was born December 27, 1949. The mezzo-soprano of American Indian and African American descent started singing at 4-years old. By age 11, while attending a Roman Catholic grade school, she saw a performance of Leontyne Price on television and begged her mother to buy a recording of the soprano. It was at this moment that she determined she wanted to be an opera singer as a career. She attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, to receive her undergraduate degree. After school she became a member of the Chicago Symphony Chorus. She made her professional debut in 1975 as the mezzo-soprano soloist in Verdi's Requiem with the Chicago Symphony as a last-minute replacement
for Yvonne Minton, who had taken ill. The conductor was Sir Georg Solti and the soprano soloist was none other than her idol Leontyne Price. The subsequent year she was engaged to sing in Wagner's Der Fliegende Holländer in Chicago with Solti and Gershwin's Porgy and Bess with Loren Maazel and the Cleveland Orchestra. Within two years of her professional debut, she was headed to New York City for one of the greatest professional relationships of her operatic career: The Metropolitan Opera. Ms. Jones made her MET debut on October 15, 1977, as Olga in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin with fellow castmates Nicolai Gedda, Sherrill Milnes, Teresa Zylis-Gara and conductor James Levine in the company's first performance of the opera in Russian. "During the intermission between the first and second acts, I remember going back to the dressing room and looking in the mirror, and I was visibly shaking. I thought, 'I cannot have a career, this is just too nerve-wracking!'
But I know that I was there for a reason. I needed to be at the Met to get what I needed for my singing. It is a fabulous place to learn, because you are working with the best people in the world. You are hearing, up close, in your face and personal, great singing, and there is no substitute for that." She was also featured in many "Live from Lincoln Center" performances including Francesca da Rimini, La forza del destino, Manon Lescaut, Cavalleria Rusticana and Rigoletto at the MET. She sang over 500 performances at the MET including major
comprimario roles in such operas as Thaïs, Die Frau Ohne Schatten, Die Zauberflöte, Der Fliegende Holländer, Parsifal, Carmen, Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, Wozzeck,  L'Enfant et les Sortilèges, I Vespri Siciliani, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Adriana Lecouvreur, Porgy and Bess and Ariadne auf Naxos.
While she was singing Francesca da Rimini at the MET, she was offered a contract at La Scala to sing her first Carmen. "I was advised not to do my Carmen at La Scala first. But I don't know who would have conducted it, who else was in the cast. I figure that maybe I was saved from an unpleasant experience." She went on to sing Carmen with Maestro Levine at the MET for the first time on April 2, 1986, with Plácido Domingo as Don José and Catherine Malfitano as Micaëla. Her last performance with the company was on February 23, 1991, as Federica in Luisa Miller alongside Luciano Pavarotti, Paul Plishka, Kallen Esperian and Nello Santi conducting the orchestra. Throughout her career she has sung with the Arizona Opera, Baltimore Opera, Calgary Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Dallas Opera, Denver Opera, Greensboro Opera, Hungarian Opera, Metropolitan Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Seattle Opera, Spoletto Festival, and at the Kennedy Center with the Washington Opera. In addition to the roles she sang at the MET, she also took on
such lead parts as Ulrica in Un Ballo in Maschera, Amneris in Aida, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly and Dalila in Samson and Dalila. Ms. Jones has appeared on opera and concert recordings such as Wagner's Der Fliegende Holländer, Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 and Stravinsky’s Les Noces, with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Sir Georg Solti and James Levine conducting, respectively; Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess with LorinMaazel conducting; Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, James Levine, conducting; and a solo recording entitled Music of Bach, Handel and Purcell. In 2002, she appeared on a recording titled Vivaldi a Due Voce with Eileen Mager. The singer has been the recipient of many honors and accolades marking the achievement of her career. In 1984 Ms. Jones was presented with the Merit Award from her alma mater, Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She has been inducted as an honored member of the United Who's Who of Executives and Professionals. She is also listed in Faces of Arizona, an art book of
Arizona’s famous artists and patrons created and photographed by Michel Sarda. Ms. Jones was recently honored with the Living History Award for Excellence and Extraordinary Service in the Performing Arts by the Phoenix Chapter of the Links Inc., Jack and Jill of America Inc., and Gamma Mu Boule' Fraternity. She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Musical Arts from Providence College in Rhode Island. As a member of Desert Life Church, Ms. Jones serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Love Images Ministry Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona. During the 2005-06 season of the Arizona Opera, she sang the title role of Carmen and in April 2006 she was heard as the mezzo-soprano soloist in the Mahler Symphony No. 2 performed at ASU in Gammage Auditorium under the baton of Dr. Timothy Russell. In January 2007, Ms. Jones was a celebrity dancer for The Arizona Kidney Foundation's first annual "Dancing with the Stars" fund raiser.
Other celebrity dancers included Tony Dovolani from the popular reality series, "Dancing with the Stars," which airs weekly on the ABC broadcast network. She was honored to participate in the world premiere of James DeMars's The Blessingway Songs along with Native American flutist, R. Carlos Nakai. In addition to concerts and recitals in Phoenix and Chicago during the 2009 and 2010 seasons, Ms Jones has collaborated with ASU professor and composer James DeMars on the opera: Guadalupe, Our Lady of the Roses available on Canyon Records at Amazon.com. This recording was nominated in four categories for the 2010 Grammy Awards. In April 2010, the mezzo-soprano performed at the 24th Annual International Conference of the Seven Ray Institute and the University of the Seven Rays in a program titled "Songs from the Ageless Wisdom." In November 2011, she will sing with The Metro Chamber Orchestra in New York as part of an all-Mahler program commemorating the 100th anniversary of the composer's death. On the program will be his Rückert Lieder and Symphony #4.
