This week Joe starts his media tour, and it appears that his first stop will be CNN and a sit down with Piers Morgan:
Palin author Joe McGinniss and more
Author of controversial Sarah Palin book "The Rogue," Norway Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and former Gov. Jennifer Granholm
As a rule I tend to avoid CNN, but of course this time I will make an exception.
Joe sent me this e-mail to give me a heads up to where he will be making appearances:
I do Piers Morgan show on CNN Monday, with Colbert and Bill Maher down the line. Also next week, Chris Matthews, Lawrence O'Donnell plus daytime MSNBC.Also The View and Joy Behar.
Joe tends to keep me in the loop, so I imagine he will firm up these dates and let me know in time to alert all of you.
By the way to the person who keeps sending me messages saying that Joe used me, let me respond.
Why yes, yes he did.
He used me to make contacts, to promote his book, and to bounce ideas off of.
But here is the thing, I used him as well. I used him to reach out to sources that were afraid to go on the record with me. I used him to give me access to the deck of the house right next to the Palins where I got to sit, eat Yak burgers, and gloat. And I used him to get the babygate story out to a much wider audience.
Except that I don't think either one of us consider that "using" each other. We both had an agenda, and did nothing to hide it from one another.
I believe that is called "cooperation."
Update: A lot of you have been sending me the Doonesbury strip from today, so I thought I would post it along with some quotes that show up on the website. (And before anybody asks me, no I don't know who the redheaded lady is.)
SAY WHAT?"Never hurts to rumormonger." — Sarah Palin, in an email musing on ways to prevent Alaska Senate President Lyda Green from being re-elected
"Flippin' unbelievable. Wouldn't you think they'd be afraid of being proved wrong when they rumor around the building like that?" — Palin, in a subsequent email objecting to a (true) rumor that Bristol Palin was pregnant
Hypocrisy thy name is Palin!
Update 2: You have GOT to listen to this radio interview that Joe gives on the Leonard Lopate radio show! He goes into MUCH more detail about Palin's fling with Glen Rice, and even says that Rice has a copy of "The Rogue" and called him to say that, "It's all good."
In other words the stories swirling around that Rice did NOT confirm the affair are bullshit.
McGinniss also says that he confirmed what is in the book with multiple sources ,and nothing was sourced to only one person. The Palin-bots can bitch and moan all they want, but Joe is no dummy and he had all of his ducks in a row before he sent his manuscript to the publisher.

Not to beat a dead horse here, but WTF Bristol?
Courtesy of NY Daily News:
Kirstie Alley can throw away a lot of clothing.
The actress and former 'Dancing with the Stars' contestant, 60, revealed to 'Entertainment Tonight' that she bought the same dress in a variety of sizes, from 4 to 14, and made a deal with herself to keep shedding pounds until she fit into the smallest size.
Now, at a staggering 100 pounds lighter, 'I feel like I'm back in my element,' said the former 'Fat Actress' star. 'I honestly didn't even realize what I looked like.'
Okay EVERYBODY knows that Kristie Alley has spent much of her life engaged in a losing battle with her weight. She loses some weight before appearing on television as a contestant on DWTS, where it accelerates dramatically, and she is so inspired that she keeps it up until she looses 100 pounds!
And did I mention that she is 60 years old!
So what happened here?
Did I mention that Kirstie Alley has not had ANY plastic surgery?
But Bristol has undergone some rather dramatic cosmetic surgery.
Kirstie Alley goes on DWTS and comes away with a slimmer physique and a determination to get into even better shape. Bristol ends the show looking probably fifty pounds heavier than she did when she started, and even today, after obvious plastic surgery, STILL looks...dare I say it...postpartum.
I have worked side by side with women my entire life, and more than a few of them had babies. I have also worked as a personal trainer who helped women lose weight through increased physical activity. And NOTHING that I know of explains Bristol's weight gain with the exception of one possibility.
Listen I keep getting a couple of trolls who claim that I am making stuff up by insinuating that Bristol was pregnant on DWTS. But hey I'm a reasonable guy! If that is NOT the reason than please tell me what it could possibly be?
Because I am dying to hear it.
If you want a little inspiration to help you come up with the an explanation you can click here to read how Bristol herself explained it, but I warn you it does not make great deal of sense either.

Jimmy Kimmel asks "Would you sleep with Sarah Palin?"
That is hysterical!
I loved the guy that said he would sleep with her, but not vote for her.
This kind of goes hand in hand with this article from the New York Daily News which claims that Palin is now nothing more than an x-rated punchline. (Seriously? Was she ever REALLY anything more than that?):
The allegation about Rice, of course, is just one more swinging strike against Palin, who has become the world's most famous hypocrite/talk-show host/Presidential wannabe in a land of tarnished political souls on both sides of the aisle. Palin was a non-running joke before this material surfaced. She is now an X-rated punch line.
If Joe McGinniss's book does nothing else (And I am quite confident it will do quite a lot more), just the fact alone that it has now made it completely impossible for Palin to get the support from her base to even start a fake temporary political campaign, should make Americans everywhere feel forever in his debt.

Sarah Palin reporting on Glen Rice's basketball team for KTUU three months after they did the nasty.
Courtesy of Deadspin:
Just about three months after her alleged one-night stand with Michigan star player Glen Rice, Sarah Palin (then Sarah Heath) reported on a Wolverines game for Anchorage's KTUU-TV. In the clip above, she's reporting on Michigan's 80-67 loss against Purdue on March 3, 1988 in to clinch the Big Ten championship game. Her alleged former lover had just 11 points and shot 5 for 16 from the field in the game, so he goes unmentioned.
Okay this might just be the result of knowing that Palin and Rice bumped uglies, but does EVERYTHING she says in this sportscast seem packed with sexual innuendo to anybody else?

Just like her mother, Bristol Palin is destined to always play second fiddle. This time to her very own son, Tripp Johnston.

| "Hey Trig, what say we get our own agents and drop these dead weight family members? After all WE have been the star attractions all along! |
Not a single shot of Bristol Palin’s new, yet-to-be-named reality show has aired, but Wetpaint Entertainment can already tell you who’ll be burning up the screen when it does!
Kyle and Chris Massey, Bristol’s costars, who will be sharing a pad with her in L.A., tell us that her two-year-old son, Tripp, is a sight to be seen. And the cameras love the tot.
“Tripp is the man,” said Kyle at the Urban Sanctuary Jet Set Luxe Lounge on September 6. “He’s just such a good kid. I think one thing that’s really great is that people are going to be able to see Tripp, how he really is and see him grow up in front of their eyes. It’s going to be cool.”
“Look out for the little one; he’s just like a character,” added brother Chris. “It’s funny to just watch him.”
Great, now Tripp will find himself thrown under the bus just like EVERYBODY who dares to embarrass Bristol or Sarah!
Hey maybe Tripp will get his OWN reality show and dump his untalented mother for a new co-star.
Which, by the way, might work out perfectly since rumor has it there is also interest in putting Mercede in front of the cameras for HER own show. Now I hate reality shows as a rule, but the "Mercede and Tripp, Wild in Wasilla" show sounds like "must see TV" to me. And just imagine how much happier Tripp will be to spend time with a family member who always thinks of his needs first!
As they say in Wasilla, "Sucks to be you Bristol!"

Who is Vittorio Grigolo's Idol? Fonzie from "Happy Days"
The heir-apparent to Luciano Pavarotti's reign as Italy's top tenor seems to be Vittorio Grigolo. In an interview with Corriere della Sera for the September issue style section, he admits that his idol growing up was Fonzie from television's Happy Days. He admits that it was because he loved motorcycles and the television character was always getting the girls in an easy manner. Check out the full text below. You can also download the full article here.
[Source]

Christine "I'm not a witch" O'Donnell walks out of interview with Piers Morgan over questions about gay rights.
I have a confession to make.
Of all of the Teabaggers I have seen, Christine O'Donnell offends me the very least.
Sure she is ignorant, politically incompetent, and an opportunist, but she just never seemed as dangerous, or vindictive as a Sarah Palin, Rick Perry, or Michele Bachmann to me.
She kind of reminds me of that girl in high school who JUST got "saved" at church and cannot stop talking about how cool Jesus Christ is, and how much she wants you to come to her next church barbecue/flea market/tent revival.
Having said that, I still think it is funny that she simply cannot stand up to ANY scrutiny about the things that she believes or writes in her book.In other words, EPIC FAIL, Miss "I am not a witch."

Michele Bachmann goes all "deer in the headlights" while being grilled by David Gregory. This is why Teabaggers avoid the mainstream press.
Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
Check out those bug eyes. She has NO idea what to say to this line of questioning."I am running for the Presidency of the United States. I am not running to be anyone's judge."
"But you have judged them."
"I..I..I don't judge them. I don't judge them. I am running for Presidency of the United States
WTF? Gregory reads off her own statements and she acts as if she has never heard them before.
And besides these clearly homophobic statements, she and her husband have charged the Federal government, through Medicaid, to provide psychologically damaging "reparative" therapies in an attempt to alter the sexual proclivities of homosexual men. If she and her husband Marcus had not judged this lifestyle as deviant than why would they provide a service to try and change it?
When Bachmann is asked if, as President (I'm sorry "Presidency"), she would appoint an openly gay person to her cabinet or to the courts, she lists three criteria: "Where do they stand on the Constitution, are you competent, and do you share my views?"
It should be crystal clear to anybody that, based on Bachmann's stated opinion about homosexuality, that the last one ("Do you share my views?"), ABSOLUTELY precludes any chance of a gay man or woman being provided any opportunities during a Bachmann Presidency.
I know she and her people probably think she effectively danced around that question, but I have little doubt that most Americans, especially gay Americans, had little trouble recognizing how the rights of homosexuals would be treated if Michele Bachmann had her way.
By the way, I am not a David Gregory fan as a rule, but I thought he did a pretty good job here.

Google Includes "Operetta" Episode in 100th Celebration
![]() |
| One piece of jewelry can turn a funny lady into a serious diva. |
To celebrate, Google has created a doodle on their homepage that is actually a television set which the user can turn the knob to watch different clips of the funniest moments from the show's history. One of the clips featured is from episode #38 titled The Operetta that originally aired on October 13, 1952. What can only be described as Carmen meets Il Trovatore meets The Mikado (even Wagner's "Wedding March" from Lohengrin has a cameo...), a hilarious plot ensues and Ethel (Vivian Vance) gets to show off some of her singing chops.
Plot: The Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League wants to stage an operetta to celebrate the club's 25th anniversary. Unfortunately, club treasurer Lucy Ricardo has pilfered some of the club funds -- so she writes an original operetta for them to perform. Lucy and Ethel decide to write an operetta, and Lucy pays for the costumes and scenery with a post-dated check. Meanwhile, Ethel and Ricky convince the chorus to enter whenever Lucy, playing "Camille- Queen of the Gypsies", starts to sing. The performance includes such ditties as: "We're the Pleasant Peasant Girls;" "Lily of the Valley;" I Am the Good Prince Lancelot;" "Queen of the Gyosies" and "We Are the Troops of the King." Just in case you were still wondering why people in Wasilla do not reveal what they know about Sarah Palin to reporters.
Because some times if they just keep their mouths shut, they can score a reality show simply for having touched Sarah Palin's mighty mane of hair.
The TV network TLC, home to such popular shows as Little People, Big World, Say Yes To The Dress and Cake Boss, announced today that it’s adding the show Big Hair Alaska to its fall lineup.
The show offers a look behind the scenes at the Beehive Beauty Shop, the bright pink beauty salon that gained national fame for crafting former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin’s signature coiffure.
The show's time slot has not yet been announced.
You see the Palins don't always have to resort to threats or intimidation to keep people quiet about them, because in fact they have helped Wasilla economically and some really do appreciate that they put their little town on the map. And yes, there are those who can even get a little fame of their own so long as they don't rock the boat.
I guess Jessica Steele learned to keep her mouth shut after she accidentally spilled the beans about Palin's thinning hair to the New York Times:
Her hair had thinned to the point where she needed emergency help from her hairdresser and close friend, Jessica Steele.
“Honestly, I think all of it just broke her heart,” Ms. Steele said in an interview at her beauty parlor in Wasilla, the Beehive.
Which inspired Ms. Steele to quickly launch into damage control:
“It wasn’t like I did an intervention,’’ Jessica Steele said in a phone interview from her Wasilla, Alaska, beauty parlor, the Beehive.
In fact, despite the juicy hair-loss tidbit that Palin-aholics gobbled up in a New York Times story (“The Long March to a Short-Notice Resignation,’’ July 12), Steele insisted that Palin’s hair hadn’t thinned so much as it had gone blah.
“I think the combination of traveling and just being down there in the lower 48’’ took its toll, Steele said in what was either a brilliant bit of spin, the simple truth, or an attempt to save the good stuff for a cut-and-tell memoir. “We needed to get her back to shiny.’’
She gave Palin a much-needed trim, she said, and “kicked up’’ Palin’s shampoo and conditioner a notch, to the high-end Pureology NanoWorks line. She also gave Palin a chichi leave-in treatment, Altieri Brothers Tuscan Oil.
Does anybody think that Jessica would be getting this great reality show gig, if she had NOT quickly walked back her statement? Nope me either!
And it is too bad she did not stick to her guns, because it appears to me that Palin's hair is WAY past the "kicked up Palin's shampoo" stage these days. Which leads me to believe that Ms. Steele was right on the money back in 2009!

Lauren Ambrose Hit High Notes Before Making it Big on TV
The actress, most well-known for her portrayal of Claire Fisher on HBO's Six Feet Under, is currently taking on the role of Jilly Kitzinger in Torchwood: Miracle Day on Starz. Turns out she has quite a musical background as well: "A former voice and opera student at Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Ambrose sings pop standards with Leisure Class, her seven-piece combo of musicians based in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts, where she lives with her family: photographer Sam Handel, whom she wed in 2001, and their 4-year-old son, Orson." Bristol Palin addresses her bizarre weight gain during DWTS in her book of excuses and outright fabrications. Oh THIS ought to be good!
I actually thought I would never revisit the DWTS weight gain issue again, but Bristol's ridiculous excuse for why she gained weight on the show is too stupid to leave unaddressed. (I can't believe the Palins think they can say such outlandish bullshit and never get called on it!)
Here is the actual page from her book:
I know it is small and hard to read, but I wanted to give you an actual screenshot in case anybody thought I might be exaggerating. Below I have typed out the pertinent portions.
The ironic thing about this whole thing is that my critic was a self-described public advocate against bullying...as long as she agrees with the victims politics, I guess. After a prominent gay suicide, she went to the airwaves and criticized bullies...while at the same time publicly stating that a 135 pound girl like me was obese. But because I was already active and fit, the show's schedule wasn't new to me. I did gain five pounds over the course of the show, but I was still thinner than a lot of girls my age.
Bristol continues in the next paragraph:
So let me address this issue head-on. I'm not skinny and I'm not fat. I'm a girl like everyone else who lives in this era of airbrushed photos who's trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. And do you know what? I'm succeeding. Everyone talks about how strenuous the Dancing with the Stars workouts are, but they're nothing compared to any high school basketball practice. Though one contestant famously lost forty-one pounds, I have to assume it was because she was not too active beforehand. Because I was an active kid before I started, this show actually took my activity level down a notch. That meant I was not going to be seeing rapid weight loss. Which was fine with me.
Okay rather than simply pick apart what Bristol is saying I think I will let the pictures, which surely she knows are still available on the internet, do my talking for me.
First let me point out that the weight Bristol brought with her to DWTS was NOT the weight gain left over from having Tripp, as evidenced in his May, 2009 picture taken while she was promoting the Candies Foundation.
And as for her so-called athletic lifestyle before DWTS, Bristol did not attend regular school after the beginning of 2008, and was certainly not on any basketball teams since then. She went back for a short time and graduated from Wasilla High, on May 15, 2009. (Once again NOT participating in any organized sports during that time.)
And as evidence of her rather sedentary lifestyle (Or perhaps something else) here is Bristol in May of 2010.
So I think it is pretty well established that Bristol was NOT engaged in any rigorous sports activities directly before starting with DWTS.
Here is a picture of Bristol's very first rehearsal with Marka Ballas on September 2, 2010.
I am not going to make any disparaging comments about her weight, other than to say that for a nineteen year old she is NOT in what I would consider athletic condition. Anyone disagree?
So taking this rather out of shape nineteen year old and having her compete on what has been called "more of a weight loss competition, than a dancing show," one would logically expect Ms. Palin to start toning up and dropping some lbs.
But instead this is what she looked like a twenty six days after she started working with Mark Ballas on the dance routines.
And here she is in October.
And again in November, at the end of the show.
Now I am not going to claim I am an expert on female weight loss, but I WAS a personal trainer and I can tell you that what these pictures demonstrate is physiologically impossible. Unless Bristol has some very dangerous thyroid gland problem, there is simply NO reasonable explanation for this weight gain while practicing dance steps for up to eight hours a day. None.
And by the way, just to spike the ball a little here, DWTS also had as contestants gymnast Shawn Johnson, football player Emmet Smith, figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi, basketball star Rick Fox, speed skater Apolo Ohno, just to name a few of the athletes that appeared in past seasons, and they ALL demonstrated an increase in their overall conditioning and a decrease in their weight. Are we to believe that THEY led sedentary lives before they started rehearsals?
In fact as far as anybody can tell, EVERY constestant on DWTS lost weight and got into much better shape due to the strenuous rehearsals involved, with ONE notable exception.
So Bristol perhaps you should have just left this topic alone, because bringing it up in this book is only going to have people talking about what they believe was the REAL cause of your bizarre weight gain on DWTS.
Here is the actual page from her book:

Here is a picture of Bristol's very first rehearsal with Marka Ballas on September 2, 2010.

Just what kind of reality show is Bristol Palin filming in Wasilla? Update!
A little (very well connected) bird told me that Bristol is currently filming some sort of reality show around Wasilla, as well as in Anchorage and up toward Denali, from July 26th to August 3rd.
Apparently she also purchased a home on Lake Lucille (Doesn't she already have a place to stay on Lake Lucille?), to use for the show.
The film company involved is called Helping Hand Productions, and I am told they are from Los Angeles.
Currently that is all that I know. I will keep you posted if I learn anything new, including whether or not this is connected to her reality show in LA with the Massey brothers. Or if this is INSTEAD of her reality show with the Massey brothers.
It kind of seems odd that she would buy a house on the same lake as her mother, if she was going to be living in LA in the near future don't you think?
Update: My source contacted me again and confirmed that Helping Hands is definitely working with Associated Television International, the same company producing the reality show with the Massey brothers. So that clears up that mystery.

Largo al Factotum: Jersey Shore Season 4 Goes to Italy
Get More: Jersey Shore, MTV Shows
Get More: Jersey Shore, MTV Shows
This isn't the first time that MTV has dipped its toe in the opera pond. Remember when they held the Video Music Awards show at the Metropolitan Opera in 1999? Well, the advertisements for the show were pretty operatically entertaining. Check out the images after the jump.
