COWBOYS & ALIENS (2011) - New Movie Trailer (#3)

Official Synopsis: 1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don’t welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It’s a town that lives in fear.

But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he’s been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents – townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors – all in danger of annihilation. COWBOYS & ALIENS (2011) New Posters

The two international posters for "Cowboys & Aliens" feature Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde and look pretty good. They have a nice look that blends sci-fi and western, making the characters look heroic and strong, but also underlining the alien element. There's a strong indication in the second poster that they will come against some sort of mothership. While the posters certainly look very serious, the movie could very well choose to play it campy. I'm sure it can't pull off the straight-face gritty action thriller routine without feeling ridiculous, so, maybe Favreau ("Iron Man") found a way to mix things up, in order to avoid the cheesiness. We'll find out on July 29, 2011. Just click the pictures to see them full-size.

COWBOYS & ALIENS - Extended TV Trailer

The new trailer for "Cowboys & Aliens" was first showed as an exclusive sneak peek during this year's Spike TV Awards. It shows plenty of fresh footage in addition to everything we've already seen from the trailers and TV Spots. For those hearing about this movie for the first time, this is a no-nonsense mix between old-school western and alien invasion sci-fi, directed by Jon Favreau ("Iron Man 1 & 2"), based on a graphic novel, produced by Steven Spielberg and starring Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Paul Dano and Sam Rockwell. The movie opens on July 29, 2011, in the US.

THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO Controversial Nude Poster

"The Feel Bad Movie of Christmas", more often known as "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. ramps up a gritty publicity campaign, befitting of a hard R-rated David Fincher movie. After the Red-Band trailer that debuted in theaters in May (featured in the Related Posts section below), which included some nudity and violence, the newest sample of gratuitous R-rated publicity is the teaser poster. On it you can see a topless Rooney Mara in full piercing gear and a grumpy Daniel Graig wrapping his arm around her in a protective manner.

The poster is available in two versions, one where the movie's release date covers the naughty bits and one where it's all fully revealed. Word on the web is that this is some kind of international one-sheet. Nevertheless, it's a bold campaign looking to capitalize on the controversial factor in order to get people to show up in theaters when the movie opens on December 21. Let's hope the movie is as ballsy as this poster seems to want to make us think it is. The Swedish adaptation of Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy had some hardcore stuff in it, so you can imagine that Fincher's version has some big shoes to fill. Below, you can see both versions of the poster and if you want to see them full-sized, just click the images.
