North Korea's Youtube & Twitter Hacked!

Hackers celebrate North Korea heir's birthday

Sat Jan 8, 2011

"(Reuters) - Hackers have attacked North Korea's official Youtube and Twitter accounts, posting a cartoon showing Kim Jong-il's heir apparent driving a sports car into a crowd of starving countrymen."

And here is that video:

UPDATE: S. Korean hackers trade cyber blows with N. Korea

(AFP) – 1 day ago

SEOUL — "Computer hackers from South and North Korea are waging an apparent propaganda battle in cyberspace, less than two months after their militaries traded artillery fire across the tense sea border.

Users of the South's popular website dcinside.com have claimed responsibility for hacking into the North's Twitter account and its official website, and leaving messages denigrating the ruling Kim family.

A separate and now deleted posting on YouTube showed a cartoon of Kim Jong-Un -- youngest son and heir apparent of leader Kim Jong-Il -- mowing down ordinary people in a fancy sports car.

It was apparently posted to mark Jong-Un's birthday Saturday."

Guest Post: Retweeting to Get Laid

This guest post is written by Craig Agranoff of Worstpizza.com. Yes, the power of the pussy can be used for fame, but what does it matter if you have a million followers? How can you possibly be a real person who engages? You're not a person -- you're a brand that exploits sex appeal. Craig is right about "sex sells," but I wouldn't discourage anyone, hot or not, from using Twitter the down-to-earth human way. Let's debate in comments.

No, this isn't one of those lame "how to" articles you see by these self-proclaimed Twitter Pimps who will supposedly show you how to get laid in 140 or less. We all know that's a load of crap.

Nope, what I'm talking about are these lame monkeys who re-tweet every tweet posted by anyone with a profile pic that looks even remotely hot. Somehow, these dweebs think that by showing RT love to these hotties, they're somehow going to get some. It's an odd male urge, I guess, to be noticed by chicks we'd never have the remotest chance with and to dream about women who'll never even know we exist.

Welcome to the mind of man.

Anyway, what this makes me think about is marketing. No, it's not that big of a leap, since most of marketing is sex. We all want to own sexy cars, wear sexy clothes, have sexy bods, get it on with sexy people, and do things that will otherwise enhance our sexual powers. There's a reason Viagra is the best-selling drug of all time.

What is plainly obvious is that sex doesn't just sell, but it gives you a huge leg up if you're self-marketing. Go to YouTube, flip to any television news station, or look at who's got the most followers on Twitter, friends on Facebook, etc. It's all hot people. Hot girls, especially, dominate video realms (YouTube, TV) while both hot men and women are all over the rest.

So if you're trying to self-market and you aren't hot, find a new line of work -- you're shit out of luck.

Evil Pongi is such a TWIT(ter)

Oh No! The world wide web just got a little more evil with yet another re-emergence of Hollywood's #1 Celebrity Cult Leader:

Evil Pongi on Twitter

Not recommended for young children and/or the faint of heart, but one can follow 'Mr. Entertainment' on Twitter.

My Private Parts: Twitter

twitter screenshot
Some folks have recently asked me why the heck I keep my Twitter account private and my follower number low if I'm so into social media. I've considered making my account public many times, but so far have had no compelling reason to do so.

Still, the question begs an answer, so I'd like to share my thoughts with you. Everybody has different uses for Twitter; there's no wrong or right way. Below is what simply has worked for me.

THE BOTTOM LINE
There isn't necessarily any strength in numbers. Quality is much better than quantity.

FOLLOWERS
Having a bazillion followers I can't interact with does me no good whatsoever. Many follower requests are from spammers or people who just want me to follow them back. There is no rhyme or reason behind their follow requests. They don't know my blog. They don't know who I am. They don't give a rat's ass about what I have to say.

FOLLOWING
Following a bazillion people also does me no good whatsoever. Twitter is about interacting and it would be logistically impossible to interact with so many people on a regular basis, even if it was my full-time job. If I follow a bazillion people, my tweet stream will be flooded and I'll miss the tweets of those people I actually care about. Even if I use a program to separate my streams into different groups, what's the point if I'm going to ignore most of them?

THE POWER OF THE RETWEET
I currently have 597 followers, most of whom probably care about what I have to say and who actually retweet my messages. Why do I need a bazillion followers when even ONE retweeted message can reach thousands?

CORE GROUP
A core, stable and steady group of followers who also interact with each other is far more effective, I think, then talking to a bazillion people who are not genuinely engaging me. The latter is like talking to a packed house of people who paid to come see me, as opposed to the former, which would be like mouthing-off to theater full of empty seats.

CONVERSATION
I don't want my Twitter account to be a soapbox. Let's care about what we have to say, to each other.

GET OVER IT
Twitter isn't a freakin' high school popularity contest. I don't care if your milkshake is better than mine. Just because you have a bazillion followers doesn't mean you necessarily provide quality tweet.

If your self-esteem is wrapped up in high Twitter rankings and your inner child throws a tantrum when you lose followers, seek therapy. Always make sure your Twitter ego is smaller than your ass, if you want to get over this rankings bullshit.

PRIVACY
I don't put my dirty laundry out on twitter, but I do say things that I don't want the whole world to know, and by whole world, I'm including family, clients or potential clients who might not understand my exaggerated and comedic voices, my raunchy comments, etc; the kind of thing you're used to hearing here from Manola and company. However, once I know you're ok with my brand of humor and Twitter-talk, you're in. Once you get that I'm tongue-in-cheek, it's cool. Still, my Twitter stream is not for wusses or prudes. I want to be me, and all shades of me, without having to censor my voice.

TRUST
I realize this is a sensitive issue, considering that many people are fans of this blog. In keeping my account private, I'm not holding court over some exclusive Twitter cabal. I'm not being a snob. The truth is, when I get a follower request, I don't know who that person is from Adam, unless I have actually met that person, or someone I already know on Twitter has referred that person to me.

How do I know Joe Blow isn't going to sabotage my online presence somehow? How do I know Joe Blow isn't some creep? How do I know Joe Blow isn't impersonating someone who wants to spy on me? I know that sounds crazy, but shit does happen online. There is a real issue of TRUST in online social networks, heck, even sometimes with people you thought you knew and could trust. So letting people follow you blindly and in droves means that you are being blind to your audience, unless you take the time to get to know them, one by one.

AND WHO HAS THE TIME?
I get hundreds of follower requests. If I had to research each and everyone, I'd be poor and living under a bridge. People with public Twitter accounts face the same problem, too. Having to sort through all your followers to see if you want to follow them back is a Herculean task.

Again, most of them do not give a shit about my Twitter stream. They only follow me because they want me to follow them back. There is no common interest, no professional affiliation, nada.

REAL FOLLOWERS KNOW HOW TO FIND ME
I have been blogging for nearly four years. My real strength is in my blog. My Twitter account is not a substitute, although I do say a lot of funny shit on Twitter. That being said, I recently had a fan of Sex and the Beach email me, saying she'd love to follow me on Twitter. This was clearly not a random follower request from someone who doesn't know jack about my work, so I accepted her request. Oh, and I was really flattered, too.

(If you go to my Twitter account page @vicequeenmaria, you'll see a link to my writer's site, Wily Wordsmith. So if you can't follow my twitter stream right away, you can certainly get to know me and my work. All my other accounts, Youtube, Seesmic, Flickr, etc; are public and accessible from my writer's site, as well as this blog.)

TELL ME WHY
And speaking of finding ... unlike Facebook, Twitter doesn't give potential followers the option to contact me directly via Twitter. So really, let's be honest: out of 38 requests I currently have pending (I've turned down hundreds), I want to know why a husband and father of four from Wyoming who works in a completely unrelated field wants to follow me. How did you find me? What's the point? What's the quality of my interaction with you, when I already follow 369 people and actively engage dozens of people on a daily basis?

Even if Twitter made contact an option, it would certainly be abused by spammers, creeps and trolls. And so it is.

YOU GOTTA HAVE TWEETUPS
Social media is SOCIAL! I recently attended a couple of tweetups in Broward and Boca Raton. I made several new Twitter friends in the process, and also connected with existing Twitter contacts I had never met in person. As a result, I now have REAL, meaningful Twitter conversations with a whole group of people north of the Miami-Dade county line.

Twitter doesn't mean a thing for me if it's not followed up by real, person-to-person, face-to-face contact. Having a bazillion strangers follow me on Twitter does not a strong social media presence make. I have to back all this up by showing my face at events. I need to be a connector in real life, too, not just in writing. For social media like Twitter to really work (at least for me), I need to build my relationships slowly and organically. Nothing can be forced. Fewer, but stronger, relationships go a long way. The mob mentality simply doesn't work.

MY LIVING ROOM
I see Twitter as a place to socialize, network and share information. For me, it's like having people I care about come over and hang out in my living room. Throw a bazillion followers into the equation and it's a rock concert. A rock concert is fine, but not everyday. My daily Twitter experience truly enriches my life on a social and professional level. Having a bazillion followers will not enrich my life.

SPHERE OF INFLUENCE
On the flip side, here's another amazing reason for fine-tuning my Twitter stream, which I can only really do if I moderate the number of people who follow me: quality sphere of influence. Yes, ironically, I can guarantee you my first born that if I shout "TWEETUP!" in any major U.S. city, there will be face-to-face connections with people I at least trust meeting in person. A follower number of 597 may seem small on Twitter, but my influence is way broader in scope.

CONCLUSION
So far, my strategy has worked for me. I keep my account private because I don't want to be some vapid celebrity with lots of followers. I really, truly care about connecting and interacting. I'm passionate about engaging my audience, not to mention having a good time with my friends. I want to give good tweet and get good tweet back.

Also, I make people knock on my door because it's not a perfect world. The system is flawed, full of spammers and assholes.

Yet, in spite of my private account, I have a very successful social media life, both personally and professionally. I am not a closed book, by any means. I regularly add people to my Twitter stream, I just do so mindfully.

Again, there's no right or wrong way to use Twitter. Twitter is really all about context and I encourage everyone to use it in ways that works for them. It takes time and practice to figure that out.

Some people hate Twitter and find it useless. That's ok, too.

I'll happily adapt and make my account public if I need to, and I may very well do so in the future, but until I have some compelling reason, I'll keep it private.

WT Plurk!

Class, I recently joined Plurk, the new micro-blogging kid on the block who is becoming competitive with Twitter. I don't know if this rivalry is gonna be like Coke and Pepsi, but I figured what the heck--it can't hurt, right?

However, I've been wondering what I'm accomplishing by Twittering or Plurking. Are these micro-blogging services benefiting me in any way whatsoever, or are they just massive time wasters like blogs? You've probably asked yourself the same thing gadzillion tradjillion times a second, right?!

Are these services merely toe-curling ego strokes for us? Does anyone care if I ate mangoes for breakfast or howled at the moon? Will faeries loose their wings if I don't twitter or plurk? (I stole this idea from Rich Minx by the way. So I should give her credit I suppose) Should I not be doing something more worthwhile like serving soup to the homeless at the local church? Or romping around in bed in my sexy lingerie with an randy partner?

Nevertheless, I offer you my Plurk Id should you wish to follow or friend me.

Then I'll be able to read every superficial, silly, trivial, meaningless detail of my naughty student's lives, and I will have even more reason to thwack with an elder branch--freshly picked of course for a delicious ceremonial spanking.

Of course, if you do friend or follow me, I'll receive Karma points, and perhaps I can redeem these when I finally meet St. Peter at the famous gate in the sky.

Don't all rush to comment at once.. I don't think my cat can take it!

I'm submitting this to "Humor-blogs.com".

I'm In Love With A Tiny Thing

Class, as you well know I've been taking a prolonged vacation, but that doesn't mean I've been inactive. Oh no-- your blondalicious teacher has been researching and studying and burning the famous midnight oil...that is, when I'm not doing other naughty things.

And I'm back to share about my latest love. Maybe you'll love the tiny thing too.

Yes, it's tiny, but OH IS IT BIG!

What I'm referring to is the Tiny URL.

What the Tiny URL does for me is a miracle! It shortens those horrible long, long addresses. And it does it all in a second! So instead of typing in those tedious story links oneself, all one does is copy and paste and voila--there is your link! And this link is so easy to copy into your Twitter updates or your Mixx submissions.

Oh, yes....I've also discovered Mixx and love it so much more than Digg for many reasons! One reason is that the ratio works for me: for every five stories you submit, the etiquette (or is it the rules?) is that you can then submit one of your very own, and thanks to the adorable and useful Tiny URL I've submitted four stories so far... so I'm nearly there.

If you're a Mixxer, I'm known as Kuanyin333 on Mixx.

Mixx gives Karma Points, and I've always liked the idea of karma....especially the kind of karma where the bad people get theirs! Yeh!

Your Mixx submissions can even go into your Twitter feed now. Or so Mixx announced, but I have yet to see my Mixx submissions appear in my Twitter. Grump!

Another new site I've discovered but haven't had much time to explore is Second Brain which is billing itself as "the first complete social aggregator". If you sign up now, you have a chance to win a MacBook Air and other cool prizes. So you know me, I signed up! Your ever hopeful teacher wants to finally win an online prize!

If I win it, I know whom I'm giving it to--someone that really needs it far more than me!

After all, I'm in love...and there's nothing that feels so good as spreading it around!

I'm submitting this to Humor Blogs.com.

They might recall who I am!

Meme Me One Last Time

Class, listen up! I'm going to get-it-over-with--the memes, that is! I don't know how you feel about memes, but they're like giving birth to me-- very painful! However, out of respect for two of my darling readers/students who tagged me for the EIGHT THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME meme, I'm going to play along.

What's painful about memes you ask? I'll tell you straight-- they're more than slightly embarrassing to me! Plus I never know who to tag. After tagging various bloggers in the past who DROPPED THE MEME BALL, I'm not gonna go there again! Thus, I will leave the meme open to whomever wants to play.

So I'm breaking rule Number 4 below, and if you don't like it, Bite Me! I don't know who the Meme King or Queen is that made up these rules in the first place... maybe some demented borg... but I'm not too worried about breaking a rule. What's the worst that can happen to me--never be tagged for a meme again?! Yeh!

So "TAG, you're it" to whomever.

"Here is how this thing works:
# * Each player must post these rules to begin the meme.
# * Each players starts with eight random facts or habits about themselves.
# * People who get tagged must blog about their eight things and post these rules.
# * At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
# * Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog."

The Eight-Things-People-Don't-Know-About-Me will also reference blogs, bloggers, and blogging tips. This way I'll feel less embarrassed about participating. After all, your blondalicious babe-of-a-teacher IS a teacher.

Here are the names and blogs of the two students who tagged me: Don of Affiliate Watcher.com and Lynda of LyndaWalldez.

Eight Things People Don't Know About Me (and probably don't give a s***):

1. I've got a secret crush on Chris Pirillo. He's a nerd with his head on straight, believes in the possibilities of et's, and creates the brilliant comic "Blaugh!....The Un-official Comic of the Blogosphere!" I bet he looks cute with his hair rumpled when Chris Pirillo wakes up in the morning. Plus, Chris Pirillo makes nerds look good.

If you wondered why I mentioned his name three times, it's because I read this in the wiki about him:
"The Pirillo Effect, coined by Mike Flynn ([1], [2]) states that if you say Chris Pirillo's name at least three times in your article or on your blog, Chris will appear and comment in some fashion. The effect was later referenced, although incorrectly sourced, in a Seattle Times article."

So I'm testing this theory out! Maybe my secret (married) crush will pay Blondie a visit?

2. I know someone on Facebook (from my past) whom I'd like to contact but don't want to do so until I have MORE facebook friends because I'd feel way too lame contacting him (or is it her?) with the amount of friends I have now (14). So if any of my beloved readers are Facebook folks, friend-me and write on my wall! This person doesn't know my blog name of Kuanyin which Facebook has written as Kuan Yin.

3. Digg is way over-rated imho, plus it's purported to be rigged.

4. Even though I have MySpace, Virb, and Xanga blogs and a Squidoo lens, I don't link to them or tell anyone my blog addies. They exist in another parallel blog-un-reality.

5. Second-Life is addictive and threatening to take over my First Life. It wasn't too long ago I joined because of the upcoming BlogHer Conference there, and already my avatar is dressed like a goddess with twinkly thingy's flashing around her head (all of which I purchased with Linden dollars) and shopping up a storm buying goodies for her new Second Life Home.

My avatar has been doing lots of exploring, flying around, and chatting with other avatars. Others have been very helpful to me, especially Queen Tureaud who will be heading-up the BlogHer Conference in Second Life. She gave me a hovercraft which was fun to fly around until I flew it into a tent and became stuck. I've packed it away in my inventory until I transfer it over to my new home. Any suggestions where to purchase real estate would be greatly appreciated. I have in mind a Grecian Temple, but I haven't been able to locate the right property yet.

6. I deleted the "Lowly Insect" from my sidebar because I was weary of being lowly and an insect. On other of my blogs, I'm a "Marauding Marsupial" and a "Large Mammal" in the TTLB Ecosystem, but here on Blog-Blond, a lowly insect--fuggedabotit! The Blond has some pride! I started as an Insignificant Microbe, so I suppose that's some consolation. There's one blog which is on the Higher Beings list which makes me wonder how the heck it made it there. Is there any way to sleep your way up the Bear Ladder? Meow!

7. The blog urban legend which goes like this: add the Alexa toolbar to your computer and the widget to your sidebar and then surf your own blog to raise your Alexa score doesn't seem to work for me. Yes, I've tried it! Your blogalicious teacher is VERY experimental. Does it work for any of you? Does a good Alexa rating matter at all? Certainly many bloggers have weighed-in on this subject, and many feel Alexa is antiquated and unimportant. Your thoughts?

8. When I twitter, I've got ZERO idea why I'm twittering. Does anyone read my twitters? Does anyone notice or care? Why do I bother twittering at all when I could be frittering? Frittering is much more fun than twittering, and I'm only twittering to experiment and determine if there's something I'm missing about twittering...and even then, I have to force myself to twitter after chugging happy juice. So why do you twitter?

That's all for today...over and out. Mr. "Humor-blogs.com", what say ye?
