We might as well accept the fact that there is a Spider-Man reboot and that Sony intends to turn it into a franchise that may possibly even live to grow past the trilogy milestone. Next year, on July 3rd,
"The Amazing Spider-Man" is coming out. As we speak, they have completed filming and are preparing to enter post-production. Now, Sony has announced a release date for the sequel :
May 2nd, 2014. I guess they must be feeling pretty confident about this project. The script for the next installment is already underway.
"The Amazing Spider-Man" is directed by Mark Webb (
"500 Days of Summer") and stars Andrew Garfield (
"The Social Network") as Peter Parker/Spidey, Emma Stone (
"Easy A") as Gwen Stacy, Martin Sheen and Sally Field as Ben and May Parker, Peter's uncle and aunt, and Denis Leary as police captain George Stacy. The villains this time around will be The Lizard (Rhys Ifans) and Proto-Goblin (Irrfan Khan). What happened to the good old days when movies only had one villain ? Thank God
"The Avengers" movie will even things up a bit by having more than one hero.
