Review: Supernatural by Larissa Ione, Alexandra Ivy, Jacquelyn Frank & G.A. Aiken

Supernatural
by Larissa Ione, Alexandra Ivy, Jacquelyn Frank and G.A. Aiken
(Lords of Deliverance # 1.5, Demonica #5.5, Guardians of Eternity # 7.5, Nightwalkers # 1.5, Dragon Kin # 4.5)
Paranormal Romance

This has been a highly anticipated anthology for me. Yeah, that's saying something considering I usually don't care much for short stories. But how often can I say 2 authors I love are in it and the other 2 are also supposed to be really good? My point exactly! I'll review them individually but just know that if for nothing else, I'd recommend this book for Ione and Aiken's stories!!

Vampire Fight Club by Larissa Ione

4.5 Feathers

I loved this story! Set in the Demonica/Lords of Deliverance worlds. We have cameos from our favorites from both series. Of course this story involves UGH because that's where Vladena originally works. After her brother comes into UGH pretty beaten up and dies they all start an investigation into where this all happened. As it turns out, there's a secret Fight Club, and no, it's not only vampires, there are plenty of shifters who fight in these underground events. That's what Vladena is, and her brother was. But she has a disadvantaged, she can't shift. And that is genetically a death sentence. She's almost come to terms with that. And now she wants revenge for the death of her brother.

Nathan is a vampire and leader of the Fight Club, but he's not the head honcho. He's someone else's puppet. And he has a lot of anger and resentment for things that were done to him that destroyed his soul. He's seen it all, nothing entices him anymore. Except when he sees Vladena, he wants her.

We get cameos from Eidolon, Shade, Wraith and even Con! As well as a BIG revelation at the end which I'm sure will play a part in the Lords of Deliverance series. See, Nathan is a day-walking vampire, and the key to that is who made him.

Darkness Eternal by Alexandra Ivy
3.5 Feathers

I'll be honest I have not read Guardians of Eternity, and this was actually my first read by Alexandra Ivy. I did like it, but I wasn't glued to the pages for it. Uriel is a vampire warrior and he hates jinns because one put a curse on him years ago during a battle and told him he would be his instrument in defeating his enemy. So he's lived thinking he can't be trusted around his own people in the event he will betray them.

Kata has actually been imprisoned by her sister and her mate, and when her sister finally dies and she believes herself to be free and able to search for her child. But Uriel is sent for her. And the attraction is immediate.

Except they are not home free yet, as it turns there's a trip into hell in their future. Along with some pretty hot sex.

This story was interesting, I liked the writing style, there was some romance, some steam, some action. I will definitely be reading more of her work soon.

Kane by Jacquelyn Frank
3 Feathers

OK... I have not read the Nightwalkers series but I have read Ms. Frank before, and I feel that in this story she did not get my interest. At all. I found myself even skimming through parts of it. *hangs head in shame*

Kane is one of the young ones, he is not 100 years old yet so he's still considered a child. They are not allowed to touch humans, but his desire for Corrine brings him to barely touch her one night. Just a soft caress. He is immediately forced to wipe her memory, he is punished and she is left alone. Except that touch started a change in her and she now needs to be close to him to live, and being forced apart for so long has made her very sick.

Now, having him shackled to a bed might not be a bad way to wake up, but she does have a lot to understand, and in a short period of time. They manage to do it mostly through his mind powers and her ability as his mate to read some of his thoughts.

Not bad... just mehhh

Dragon On Top by G.A. Aiken
4.5 Feathers

Oh the wonderful world of Ms. Aiken's writing! I am currently reading the Dragon Kin series but even though this is #4.5 it really could be read right after book 1 as this goes back in time not to the current set of brothers we are reading about, but their parents. In this case their aunt Ghleanna the Decimator.

She is the ultimate warrior chick, nobody mess with her. She knows she should need a mate that is as strong as her. But when she is tasked with escorting and protecting Bram, the smart and peacful dragon who writes up all the peace treaties that end her wars, she finds herself reconsidering that.

Ghleanna and Bram are just adorable, funny, sexy, hot and so damn entertaining! You can't help but love them! This story might just be my favorite in this anthology!

Review: Sabine by Moira Rogers

Sabine
by Moira Rogers
(...and the Beast # 1)
Paranormal Romance

This was my first exposure to Moira Rogers. I'll confess the covers are what attracted me to get it. I think they look so cool and sexy (yes, even though it's only a girl!). So, in the good sense of judging a book by its cover, and even though this is EXTREMELY short, it delivered a pretty good story.

Lets go back in time to kings, and courts, and wars. Ciar was Prince, and he was madly in love with Sabine, but she wasn't of royal blood, and his mom didn't approve of her. Ciar has to leave to go to play his role in the war and is gone for years, thinking he will return and make Sabine his mate.

Except he comes back to a castle where no one remembers who Sabine is. Using his instincts he tracks her to a rundown hut where she lives isolated to find that his mother had a witch put a spell on Sabine. Whoever she touches will forget about ever seeing her or knowing her.

This a story of true love and fighting to make it work. Even through the impossible. There's enough steam in it to keep it interesting but it served the story in every occassion. And what is more heartbreaking than the man you love to not know who you are.

I'm very curious to read Kisri next!

Review: Envy by JR Ward

Envy (Fallen Angels #3)
by J.R. Ward
Urban Fantasy

Caldwell is the PNR/UF version of Sunnydale (from Buffy, just in case you live under a rock!), all the supernatural shit goes down there! You have a Brotherhood of vampires and now we are battling demons to make sure Hell doesn't come bubbling up. Sounds like a crappy place to live, you are likely to either be killed by the Omega or have your soul destroyed by a demon; however, the payoff may just be worth it, Caldwell also seems to be the centre of the hot-man-universe packed full of gorgeous males so manly they make Arnie shrivel up, so yeah it may be dangerous but we are on the Oestrogen Express on our to Caldie!

Annnnyway in this book Veck is back and he’s made a lasting impression!

At the beginning of Envy, Veck is in deep shit. Nursing a killer headache a la vampire (not that he knows that!) he finds himself overlooking a body that looks to be mauled by an animal. He calls 911 to report the incident. But when questioned later about the events, he can’t seem to remember anything at all without his head pounding like he’s been hit across the noggin’ by a two-by-four. But the real problem is this aching suspicion that maybe he was the attacker...

Enter Sophia Reilly, Veck’s new assigned partner from Internal Affairs. Sparks are instantaneous between these two and it’s no wonder, they have amazing chemistry. What was fantastic about Reilly was that fact that she was a straight-shooter, take-no-shit kind of woman who knows exactly what she wants, but also a normal woman as per her hilarious and completely understandably pervy thoughts about Veck. She has her confused moments where her head and her heart clash, and yeah maybe we did want to brain her a little. But all in all, the girl’s got something good between her two ears.

Envy has managed to strike a good balance, in Covet there was a lot of romance and in Crave there was a lot of UF, but this book has the perfect bland of both elements of this series. It manages to move the main plot with Jim et al on, with a few really shocking twists, seriously this book needs a Kleenex warning, but it also has a really great romance in it as well. What is also great about this series is Devina, we love that we hate her, she is a bad guy that you can get properly riled up about, she isn't half assed about being evil she goes all the way and not only that; she poses a credible threat. There is nothing more off putting then a bad guy that can be defeated by your 5 year old nephew with a big stick, Devina isn't one of those!

Colin and Nigel deserve a mention. Once again JR Ward has managed to make a tricky subject into the mainstream, Colin and Nigel’s relationship was oh so human yet complicated by angelic concerns. I hope we see more of the two of them; it is like she has snuck in an extra romance and how they deal with the future battle will be interesting to see.

Now Jim and Sissy. There is an age difference Sissy is 19 and Jim is 40, although Sissy’s time with Devina has got to add an extra 1000 years to her age, but we so long for them to get together or have some kind of HEA, she is his Sissy and they thoroughly deserve each other. And the ending with Sissy’s mother, Susan, was great. Both draining and hopeful, Ward can break your heart with a few turn of events and then mend it back together with a few simple words.

Simply put we loved it.

Envy is UTC favourite of the Fallen Angels series so far. With a hero like Veck and an admirable heroine like Sophia, it was easy to fall in love along with them. But it’s the war between heaven and hell that’s got us jonesing for the next in the series. Bring on the next book!

Brother Spotting

We noticed two!

1. Escalade flying past at the beginning; getting the Butch vibes!

2. Throe right at the end doing his Grim Reaper impression

Review: Dark Taste of Rapture by Gena Showalter

Dark Taste of Rapture
(Alien Huntress # 6)
by Gena Showalter
Paranormal Romance

How do you like your heroes? Tall, muscled, strong, tortured, tattooed, oh-so-sexy, with golden eyes and . . .dimples! Is that close? Well then, meet Hector Dean. I mean, just take a look at the cover. He is edible!! And to make the cover justice, the man you will meet in the book is a fantasy come to life!

This book backtracks in the storyline to when Noelle and Ava go into the AIR agent training. And really, how can they be expected to concentrate on training when you have Dallas and Hector as your instructors? The connection is instant between Hector and Noelle but there are so many layers to their relationship that need to be peeled back from there. And it’s a lot of fun to see it happen.

Hectors past was very hard, and his present is a major thing to deal with. Although he is human, his arms heat up and can burn through even metal when he gets aroused, angry, or any strong emotion. Great in a fight, not so great around a girl. But he is intense!!! Hot in more ways than one!! I wouldn’t mind going up in flames with him. . . At all. . . He’s worth it!

And then there’s Noelle. She is my favorite heroine in this series. She can be funny, snarky, a bit spoiled. But she hides behind a mask and inside there’s a girl who has never been good enough for anyone, not her family, not her boyfriends. The only constant in her life is her friendship with Ava. Their loyalty to each other is amazing! But now she is getting married. I loved seeing their friendly interactions, her sadness at losing her friend or so she thought. They are hilarious together, they get each other in all their quirkiness.

But Hector sees through Noelle’s act as well. He knows there’s more to her than she lets on. And when Noelle really starts pushing the boundaries of their relationship, well I just love how he gives in to his desires and passions 100% and as much as he can. Even though he fights going further.

We revisit the alien trafficking storyline in this book instead of the Schon queen. She was completely absent here and I just wonder what happened with her. We do get somewhat of an answer to Dallas vision but there is still an open question about it at the end. I think I just heard Dallas saying he is ready to have his book written. And since I’m on the Dallas subject. . . He is so cute, trying to put his "best moves" on Noelle. It was hysterical. I gotta admit I’m jealous though!! I want to be Dallas' pretzel!

And just as we had best friends forever Ava and Noelle, we also see a small glimpse of my favorite bromance: Devyn and Dallas. I’m soooo on Brides side when Devyn mentioned that she wanted them to kiss like Noelle and Ava had done. *purrrrr*

Pretty much the whole cast shows up in this book. We also see Jaxon and Mia as well as McKell obviously. Together, AIR solves a case of missing girls aaaaaaannnnmnnd in the process a blast from the past character reappears! No, can’t tell you who it is. You’ll have to read to find out. But I’m sure this will play a big role in future books.

So what are you waiting for? Pick up this book, or if you haven’t yet, start this series!! You know you want to see Hector burn holes in brick walls, burn through gloves and burn down a house!!!!

Favorite Quotes:
Speaking of funny looks. "Did you see the way that Hector guy eyed me up and down, as if I belonged in a scientific studies magazine for newly discovered fungus?" "Yeah, but did you see his muscles?" "How could I miss them? His I've-tasted-human-heart-and-liked-it black T-shirt was strained to the point of lunacy." "Vocab lesson time. You mean lewdness. As in, indecent."

"Graduate Camp Hellhole - check," Noelle muttered. "Hired by AIR - check. Complete my first mission successfully - check. Kick Hector's ass at a foot race - check. Lose my best friend - check, check, fucking check, and scribble and crumble the notepad and slam it into the trash."

The T-shirt was a gift from Ava and read Good Girls Need Spankings Too.

"Hey!" Dallas frowned at him. "When I tell you something's a secret, and you tell me that secret is locked in the vault, you aren't supposed to blab about it." Devyn blew him a kiss. "How was I supposed to know Hector would have the key to my vault."

ARC Review: Twilight Fulfilled by Maggie Shayne

Twilight Fulfilled
(Wings in the Night # 18)
by Maggie Shayne
Paranormal Romance

If you know me, you know I'm pretty much OCD about reading a series in order, most of the time that includes prequels and short stories. At least I try as much as possible. But I'm sad to say Wings in the Night has been the one series I haven't done that. I picked up books 13, 14 and 15 (without knowing they were part of a bigger series) because they were available at the time on audio. I thought they were pretty good and had a fairly decent storyline. Then I find out there's MORE as in A LOT MORE books!

So one day I'll go back and try to catch up with all the books I've missed. But for now I had the oppotunity to read this book and I have to say I'm glad I did! It was really, really good! And from what I remember of the stories in the books I read, I was not too lost following this story.

Basically the concept is an immortal was risen to kill all vampires! Utana was trapped for about 5000 years and he believes the Gods have assigned him with the mission of exterminating all vampires using his powers. James is the 1/4 vampire Chosen that raises him, and his twin sister Brigit is now sent to kill him and prevent the destruction of their people. But now it's not just him, and his appointed mission, the government wants to use him as a weapon in their efforts to get rid of vampires.

Of course what has to happen is that cute caveman-like Utana and 1/4 vampire Brigit, who should be enemies, fall in love, or is lust, at first sight.

Utana is soooo adorable, trying to learn english at a rapid rate, and learning how things work by just touching them and trying to drive Brigit's car. He feels a connection to her instantly and wants to do what's possible to spare at least her life.

Brigit can't bring herself to kill him, even when she has a chance. But she slowly starts believing there's hope that she can show him there's another way. But she might have to go against her family to do that.

At the beginning I was a bit confused because every few pages we were switching to someone else's POV, I almost couldn't figure out who the book was about. But once the plot was set up and the story progressed, it was written very well and covered all bases.

I did notice the appearance of a character I enjoyed in the books I did read, Roxy, the oldest Chosen alive, she's such a cool chick! The Chosen are humans who have the Belladonna antigen that allows them to turn into vampires. In general, vampires are compelled to protect the Chosen and they can feel their pain and distress. But the Chosen are now being used to attract all vampires to their death!

This book had enough action, humor and sexiness to keep me very interested! I would definetely recommend it!

Review: Immortal Kiss by J.K. Coi

Immortal Kiss
(Immortal Warriors # 2)
by J.K. Coi
Paranormal Romance

I have a confession to make. I bought all 4 Immortal Warriors books almost two years ago because a friend was dying to read them, and I thought they looked really good. I read the first one and thought it was a pretty interesting world, and hot and steamy (just how I like it) and then... Other books got in the way, and I completely forgot I had the rest of this series to read!!!

So, let me tell you who are the Immortal Warriors. Basically they are humans who, even though sometimes don't know it, they will be changed or turned into an immortal but only when another immortal dies and he has to take his place. Their mission is to fight and kill vampires.

So this is basically what happened to Baron. He was a somewhat normal teenager, didn't know anything about what his future would hold, he was the popular kid. He dealt with having a sick brother during those years, Jackson. Jackson had only one very good friend, Maxine, a girl down on her luck with a lot of family issues.

Now, years later, after he's left his family and past behind and become a fierce Immortal Warrior, and can I just say SEXY AS HELL, he comes face to face with beautiful Maxine again. After his brother Jackson is in his deathbed, he sends Maxine in search of his brother, except she runs into a rogue vampire who turns her before she can get to him.

Baron has to protect her from turning into an evil bloodsucker, protect the rest of his team members from her, and kill her maker.

And at the same time come to terms with the feelings he has always had for her. Their love was always there and I just loved the two of them together.

I really want to see where Jackson's story can go from here, he's just so cute! We also get a small glimpse of Rhys and Amy (from book 1) and she's pregnant!

This book is plenty hot, it has a really good storyline so be sure to pick it up!

Review: Falling Hard by J. K. Coi

3.5 Feathers
Falling Hard
by J. K. Coi
Paranormal Romance

First of all let me just say that I am enjoying the new trend of angel books! I really am! Falling Hard is the story of Gabriel, a hot rocker, who has lived a difficult life and has struggled to get to where he is at today in his life. You know, the hot brooding male, with tats and an attitude, but deep inside so sweet.  And his name is so fitting once you realize where the story is going.

He's lost his family, and basically out of nothing and with the help of a good foster family, he made himself a very successful rock star. However, disaster hit again a year when his then girlfriend died of an overdose and since then he has stayed away from all the partying and drugs with his band mates.  Not so typical rock star.

After the last concert of the tour, his life will change drastically. He's never known really who he was, or more accurately what he was. But his destiny has finally caught up with him. And just when he needs it most, his sense of preservation goes out the window.  Yes, unfortunately, he is that female in the horror movies that has no common sense (in a way).

Amelia is an angel, she's been watching over Gabriel his whole life because of who he is and the time has come to protect him, and prevent him from becoming the vessel by which Lucifer will come back to the world.  But by being on Earth she's weakening... and feeling.

But... is everything she's always been taught by Archangels' true? Should she blindly believe them and follow orders? And now, after being on Earth for a while, physically protecting Gabriel and starting to feel, can she deny what her heart is telling her and asking her.

The storyline was really good and the premises of the whole world were very good as well.  It was just a little slow at times for me.   The chemistry between the hero and heroine was definitely there, and they had some pretty hot and steamy scenes!  I am looking forward to see where the stories can go from here.

Review: Vampires Are Forever by Lynsay Sands

Vampires Are Forever
(Argeneau Vampires # 8)
by Lynsay Sands
Paranormal Romance

Inez has been working for the Argeneau family in England for a while, and she has actually been promoted to upper executive position but WITHOUT the required talk about who the Argeneaus are, or more accurately what they are.

So when Thomas goes to England to track down his aunt Marguerite, who has just basically disappeared, and has to rely on Inez's help he finds himself having to explain to her (quickly) what their world is all about. Well, he technically was planning to wipe her memory of all of it, but it turns out she's his life mate!

They go on a wild goose chase, and not just in England, looking for Marguerite. All the while he has to convince Inez to come to terms with the fact that she'll be with him forever.

This book has a very light sense of humor, it was entertaining enough, but not captivating. Definitely something light to read when I'm in between heavier reads. I was actually expecting more out of Thomas's story. He was such a cool character in the other books and I don't think his book lived up to my expectations. Maybe his mate didn't either. But that's just my opinion.

I still feel this will never be one of my favorite series, but its entertaining enough to keep going. And the new sexy covers (well not brand new but latest) do not represent the books. Yes there's some steam, but the series hasn't been what I expected. You know what they... Never judge a book by its cover and all that.

Review: Lord of Rage by Jill Monroe

(more like 4.5 flaming feathers!)
Lord of Rage
(Royal House of Shadows # 2)
by Jill Monroe
Paranormal Romance

Lord of Rage was a UTC group read for us so instead of writing a group review, we decided to use our IM chat as our review. Note that this is a real IM chat between us three, so we will be more candid and you can finally see how much abuse I receive from *jerks thumb at Francesca and Suzanne* these two. You have been forewarned! This is UTC, unscripted.

Annie: Okay let’s do this!
Suz: So Breena and Osborn...
Annie: What did you think of Breena?
Suz: I like her better the Jane
Annie: Me too! She’s much easier it relate to, I felt bad for her.
Suz: She also has cool powers
Annie: Actually, I didn’t feel too bad, she got a sexy berserker.
Fran: Yes her powers were cool but I really liked her personality. She was tough but still easy going.
Suz: Yeah no stupid moments, or worse maidenly ones!
Annie: What about Osborn? I loved him, I loved reading about his background
Suz: OSBORN!
Annie: Sexy sexy man!
Fran: I thought he was adorable and hot
Suz: I loved him, and he bought her present!
Annie: Definitely sexy, what was your favourite scene with him?
Fran: Hmmm, when he changed the energy at the lake.
Suz: Oh yeah! Where he goes down on her to save the day! I wish that happened in my life
Annie: LOL ME TOO! *pouts*
Fran: Me three!
Annie: So what didn’t you like about the book?
Fran: I didn’t like that there was no big battle.
Suz: It didn’t feel like it had finished, it like it had just started and then it ended!
Fran: Nothing ever really happens
Annie: I agree, I felt like it built up a lot and then…it was just okay in the end. The timeline confused me as well, it was weird especially from the first book.
Fran: Yeah the timeline throw me off.
Me: Yeah, because Nicolai isn’t saved until years later but this is set almost straight away. Apparently it is all explained though.
Fran: Another thing, there wasn’t enough sex and steam!!
Annie: The sex was good, but I want more!
Suz: HUSSIES!
Fran: lol!
Suz: Another thing I didn’t like was how easily Osborn stopped hating the Eldens after Breena just said “it isn’t us.”
Fran: Yeah that was too easy.
Annie: Oh yeah. After all that time hating Eldens, he was like *shrugs* okay cool.
Suz: LOL!
Fran: He had this hate inside for years and all it takes is one word from her and everything is okay.
Annie: Pussy whipped.
Fran: Totally!
Annie: Where’s my whip?
Fran: Breena has it!
Suz: LOL!
Fran: Okay one thing I loved.
Suz: Yes?
Fran: The Goldilocks reference
Annie: Oh yes!
Suz: Yes! That was funny I loved that
Annie: I liked the very end, that excerpt thing, it was very cute. What did you think of Jill Monroe’s writing? This is the first one of hers that I have read.
Fran: Me too, I loved it
Suz: I liked it, it was simple and to the point.
Fran: Very easy to read.
Annie: I think it was a very fast read for me, very easy to read.
Suz: It wasn’t trying to be all poetic and all that.
Annie: Exactly, enough description and it didn’t lag.
Annie: How’d you like the Berserker reference and backstory?
Suz: I liked it, I liked the idea of Berserkers
Annie: I thought it was pretty badass. I love the Berserkers.
Fran: I liked it too.
Suz: I loved it when he shagged her in his bearskin LOL!
Annie: ME TOO!
Fran: Berserkers are hot
Annie: Man I want that!
Suz: Me too, against a tree trunk yum!
Annie: yummy!
Fran: Double yum LOL!
Suz: Double yum! TWO BERSERKERS! At once!
Fran: His brothers were cute too
Suz: They were sweet, when they are older, there are your TWO BERSERKERS!
Annie: Excited about the next book?
Suz: I am
Fran: I am!!! This series is sweet light fun, entertaining
Suz: It is, I can’t wait to see what happens in the end and how they bring it all together. So the most important question! Nicolai or Osborn?
Annie: OSBORN!
Suz: haha me too!
Fran: Osborn
Annie: I want a Berserker baby!
Fran: Lol!
Suz: Lol!
Fran: This couple wins hands down
Annie: I think so, what do you think about the Elden world?
Suz: It is good but we aren’t given that much info. It is in bits and pieces. We don’t know how the world works as a whole if you know what I mean
Annie: yea it’s still up in the air after 2 books.
Fran: Yeah I agree.
Annie: Okay cool question. If you could write a series like this with 4 authors, who would you pick?
Suz: Good question! JR Ward, Kresly Cole, Christine Warren, or maybe Jeaniene Frost and ILONA ANDREWS
Fran: Ward, Kresley Cole, Nalini Singh, Gena Showalter
Annie: Ward, Kresley Cole, Nalini Singh, Larissa Ione
Suz: So we all pick JRW and KC, How about Lisa Kleypas?
Annie: YES!
Fran: That would be cool
Annie: Lisa Kleypas doing a PNR. AWESOME!
Suz: I think LK would write a great PNR.
Fran: What about Jennifer Ashley?
Annie: Oh yes for sure!
Suz: So basically all our favourite authors! Lol! So what fairy tales? I think JRW would do an awesome Beauty and the Beast
Fran: Yes!
Annie: What about Cole?
Fran: What about the Little Mermaid?
Annie: That would be cool!
Suz: Or, Little Red Riding Hood, with LYKAE! *swoon*
Fran: Ione should try that one
Annie: the wargs!
Annie: For Kleypas?
Fran: Cinderella?
Annie: Yesss!
Suz: Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, a bit of ménage a 8 going on! LOL!
Fran: OMG!
Annie: LOL!
Suz: Sleeping Beauty, Frost I think.
Annie: Yeah I like that! Wow we are making a new series right here!
Fran: We gotta contact the authors
Suz: and collect the profits KERCHING!
Annie: Jackpot!
Fran: SO back to Lord of Rage, anything you want to add?
Suz: Just that I liked it, it was a good quick read that I would read again
Fran: Hot hero; cute heroine and a sweet story
Annie: Can I have Osborn?
Suz: No, sorry it’s my Birthday so therefore he is mine lol!
Fran: I’ll take the two brothers in 10 years time.
Annie: LMAO!
Suz: lol stealing my idea, 2 Bersekers are better than 1!
Fran: You have Osborn
Suz: I want a matching set!
Annie: LMAO!
Fran: Lol! Sorry no can do! Take Bones out to play!
Annie: VLAD!
Suz: MENCHERES!
Annie: Oh Vlad! He makes me burn
Suz: I would see a doc Annie. Burning is NOT a good sign!
Fran: Yeah seriously Annie, get that check out! LOL!
Annie: I meant....never mind. I hate you. *glares*

I hope you enjoyed our review! It isn't edited AT ALL because of course we always have correct spelling and grammer and we NEVER go off on tangents. (*whispers* don't worry, Annie and saw a doctor and all is well! She just had hussyitus).

Review: Eternal Hunter by Cynthia Eden

3.5 Feathers

Eternal Hunter
(Night Watch # 1)
by Cynthia Eden
Paranormal Romance

Shifter bounty hunter!! What an awesome combination! This is the first book in the Night Watch series, but it's still set in the same world as the Midnight series.

The Night Watch agency basically is a group of bounty hunters. There's hot shifter dude Jude, Dee who is a full human, and hot stuff Zane.

In this story Jude happens to pick up a skip who is then brutally killed after getting locked up again. And he is brought in to help figure out who the killer is. But it all turns out to revolve around the beautiful assistant DA Erin Jerome. He can tell she is not a full human, but he can't figure out what she is.

So Jude was actually my favorite part of the story. Yes, he's very alpha, sexy, protective, tough... did I mention sexy as hell? Yeah? And he shifts into.... can't tell you, but he's verra sexy! Oh wait, I said that already. Moving on...

Erin has lived her life hiding her supernatural tendencies, and she's had a lot to deal with in the past, but she came off a bit needy to me. She kept saying she wanted a "normal" life when she had something special right in front of her. I thought her special "power" of seeing the death of people that are close to her was pretty cool.

This book was steamy, no doubt about it, but a lot of times I felt it was a bit choppy. The writing didn't flow as easily as with other Cynthia Eden books I've read before, and this is maybe why I kept losing interest in the story.

I think Ms. Eden does an excellent job at coming out of left field with who the bad guys are! And in this one, I actually didn't suspect it until the end.

I am not so excited to read Dee's story next, but I will get to it soon. I'm sure my attitude towards her will change in her book.
