Hours after Philippine bet Shamcey Supsup was named as the 3rd runner-up at the Miss Universe 2011 pageant, a purported statement from U.S. “Queen of Talk” Oprah Winfrey spread like wildfire online.

This alleged statement was aired via NBC News: “I have reservations with the results. If the only basis is the Q and A portion, after having been trimmed down to 5, Ms. Philippines deserved to win. What made her different from the rest is that she had no seconds to rethink of her answer as she had no interpreter to break the ice. The rest had their interpreters and having breaks on seconds to think about their answers. Hands down, Ms. Philippines answered straight to the point.”

But sorry to burst your bubble, the highly influential celebrity did not actually say that.

Answering a query on the alleged statement, a moderator on Oprah's official website Oprah.com said Oprah has not issued "any comments of this nature."

OWNModerator13 responded: "There is no truth to the statement. Ms. Winfrey has not made any comments of this nature. Thank you for asking."

The moderator of the talk show's official website also advised fans to visit Oprah's pressroom in her online site for updates about the talk show host.

"Please note that there are many rumors circulating on the Internet. For this reason we encourage our members to visit the Press Room on Oprah.com to get the latest updates and news: http://www.oprah.com/pressroom/Press-Releases-Oprah-in-the-News," the moderator added.

NBC News has not issued any statement either on its official Twitter account.

Supsup was the lone candidate who answered in English during the crucial Question and Answer portion.

When asked whether she would compromise her religion for the man she loves, Supsup answered: “I would not change my religion because, first of all, I love my God who created me and if that person truly loves me, he must also love my God,” she said.

Some Filipino fans online have expressed disappointment over her non-title win, despite a good standing throughout the pageant.

Senator Miriam wants to contest Shamcey Supsup's 4th place finish

Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago on Tuesday said she is prepared to contest the 4th place finish of Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup in the recently-concluded Miss Universe 2011 pageant in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

"I'm going to file a protest if possible... if there's a legal remedy I don't think that it might be taken as lacking in sportsmanship," Santiago told reporters in an interview on Tuesday.

Supsup was the third runner-up in the pageant while Leila Lopes of Angola was crowned the 60th Miss Universe on Tuesday.

Santiago, however, said she thought the contest would be between Miss Ukraine and Miss Philippines.

"As it turns out neither one made the top two positons which shows that I'm better as a senator than as a beauty consultant I imagine... but I thought that she did very well," she said.

Not sour-graping

Santiago said her comment about Supsup's fourth place finish may sound like she is sour-graping or saying negative things about something one cannot have.

However, Santiago insists that she is not sour-graping because she thinks the decision "may have been partly political."

She said the judges might have wanted "somebody from Portugal or thereabouts in that region" to win because Asians have supposedly been winining beauty contests for a while.

"Sometimes you can't discount these possibilities. They all deserve to win, except that I'm very disappointed because I thought that our contestant was an ideal candidate that represented the best of the Filipina," she said.

Facebook users can tune into the hour-long live video chat on the site at 1:30 pm EDT, and can leave questions for Winfrey on the page wall created for the event.

The 57 year-old Winfrey has embraced social media. She has almost 6.3 million fans on Facebook and more than 7.2 million followers on Twitter.

Winfrey hosted the final season of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in May this year. She continues to host a prime-time show on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) television channel, which launched at the beginning of this year.
