RetroAtelier - Photographic institution
My favourite find of recent weeks by far is the Ukrainian photo collective RetroAtelier. They create fantastic homages to vintage photography across a range styles with incredible accuracy. Don't miss this one.

Mark Meir Paluksht
I've featured Israeli photographer Mark Meir Paluksht before, but I really enjoy his latest work exploring retro styling and vintage themes.

As We See Them
![]() |
Organized by guest curators Herbert Ascherman, Jr. and Jeannette Palsa, As We See Them presents the work of eleven artists who are using some of the earliest photographic processes to create contemporary images dealing with sexuality and the human figure. This diverse group of photographers has put aside digital technology to explore the possibilities of these 19th-century processes.

Harold Lloyd
It's been a while since I posted a classic photographer, so to rectify that, here's a portfolio of 1950's great Harold Llyod.

Dull Tool Dim Bulb: Camera Club Girls
Art Nudes reader Jim Linderman has made the full text and image of his two latest books available for preview and voting at Blurb. Great stuff for the vintage photography buff.
This is for a limited time only (until August 20) so take a peek, and vote for a fellow reader.

Rudolph Rossi

Photography collector Jim Linderman has assembled a remarkable collection of work by 1950s photographer Rudolph Rossi and has created a blog to share the images. Frankly, the photographs are not stunning. However, it's the assembly of a body of work from a heretofore unknown artist toiling away at a labour of love in a time before this style of work was widely accepted that makes this interesting.

Why I buy garage sale photos...

OK, this is off topic, but as a chronic purchaser of old photos and negs at garage sales and second hand shops, I love this story.

SSSSH! Shy Shamed Secret Shadowed Hidden

Victor Minx (the pseudonym of a photo collector behind several other vintage photo blogs) wrote me to tell me about his site, SSSSH! where he posts vintage vernacular erotica from his extensive collection.
Although not strictly within the bounds of what I normally post here, as a vintage photo collector myself, and a photographer of the nude, I really enjoyed the look and tone of a lot of these.

Man Ray

I'll wrap up this week's post with one of the greats, surrealist master Man Ray. This site has a staggering amount of his work, searchable by theme and medium. Although some of the thumbnails don't work properly, this is still an amazing resource.
