Official Synopsis: When ex-biker-gang member Sam Childers (Gerard Butler) makes the life-changing decision to go to East Africa to help repair homes destroyed by civil war, he is outraged by the unspeakable horrors faced by the region’s vulnerable populace, especially the children. Ignoring the warnings of more experienced aide workers, Sam breaks ground for an orphanage where it’s most needed-in the middle of territory controlled by the brutal Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), a renegade militia that forces youngsters to become soldiers before they even reach their teens. But for Sam, it is not enough to shelter the LRA’s intended victims. Determined to save as many as possible, he leads armed missions deep into enemy territory to retrieve kidnapped children, restoring peace to their lives-and eventually his own.

THE GUARD - Trailer



"The Guard" is an irish comedy thriller that was screened at the Tribeca Film Festival in the 'Spotlight' section and at the Sundance Film Festival. Theater releases for this movie are scarce. The UK will get to see it on July 8, 2011 and then Germany and the Netherlands can view it on September 22, 2011. Written and directed by John Michael McDonagh ("Ned Kelly"). Read the official synopsis below :
"Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges) takes the unorthodox cop character to the edge in the dark comedy The Guard. Meet Sergeant Gerry Boyle, one of Galway, Ireland's finest and dedicated cops. He takes care of business-so what does it matter if he has some drinks, maybe a few drugs, and dabbles with Dublin prostitutes while he's on the job every so often? When he comes across a dead man's body that could be linked to a half billion dollars of drug money, Boyle's rogue ways gets tested with the arrival of straight-laced FBI Agent Wendell Everett (Don Cheadle). Polar opposites, the two must team up for the investigation that tests the limits for each of them."
