When Julie Ann San Jose was picked to perform as front act during the recently concluded David Archuleta concert at the Araneta Colisuem, not a few eyebrows were raised, for indeed, it is as if the youngster was just seemingly plucked out of nowhere -- and all too suddenly – to be part of such a prestigious event.
However, San Jose is actually a seasoned entertainer having been performing since she was just a little girl. She started her showbiz career in 2005 when she competed on "Popstar Kids," a national televised singing competition for children aged 7 to 11.
Now a GMA-7 contract star, San Jose is getting better and better with age with her regular performances in the network’s musical variety show “Party Pilipinas.” A number of celebrities like Charice, Jim Paredes and Lea Salonga laud San Jose. Upon hearing San Jose sing, Salonga reportedly blurted, “Oh my Gosh!”
The 17-year old is making a big ruckus on YouTube with her acoustic rendition of Nicki Minaj’s “Superbass,” which has already garnered 2.5 million hits as of this writing.
