Tween Hearts: Class of 2012 is solely produced by GMA Films

According to Barbie Forteza, it’s not a guarantee for a top-rating television show to be a big box-office hit when made into a movie. That’s why she doesn’t want to be complacent with her upcoming GMA movie titled Tween Academy: Class of 2012 even if it’s a spin-off of the top-rating Sunday afternoon program Tween Hearts.

“We have to take into consideration that films and television are two independent media. While it’s true that Tween Hearts is performing well in the ratings, the movies are an entirely different ballgame. For one, a movie’s not free. In order to watch, people should pay. That’s our goal since we started shooting for Tween Academy: that its triumph on TV translates into a big killing at the tills when it gets shown,” she says.

She and perennial screen partner Joshua Dionisio are said to be under pressure because they are considered as the film’s strongest pull.

“Well, thank you if they regard us as such. But I still believe that it’s a group effort. Apart from me and Josh, there’s also Elmo Magalona, Julie Ann San Jose, Bea Binene, Jake Vargas and many more. The story is not just centered on our love team. I’m sure the young viewers can relate to the story.”

Asked what factor could greatly contribute to the film’s commercial success, the pretty teen star states, “The fact that all of us in the cast enjoyed a lot while shooting the movie! It’s like we were just playing on the set. The viewers will see and feel it. Although I’m not a hundred percent confident when it comes to the box-office aspect, many of our fans who visit us on our location shoots assure us that they’ll support it. I really hope they do!”

“That’s right! This just means they have strong faith in our team. It’s quite touching. This is the reason why Josh and I, along with all the cast members set our best foot forward to make this project a surefire hit.”

Speaking of Josh, he is being linked to their fellow tween star Julie Ann San Jose. Many are curious if their special friendship was affected due to this. Talks are also rife that she’s jealous of Julie Ann.

“Oh! Nothing has changed. My friendship with Josh remains intact. Meanwhile, Julie Ann and I are okay as well! She’s a nice, charming and talented girl.

“Regarding the jealousy part, it’s not true! I don’t feel insecure or threatened whatsoever. If Josh likes her, it’s just fine with me. In the first place, what right do I have? We’re just friends,” avers Barbie.

Some quarters believe otherwise specially that they buy each other precious gifts. It was learned that recently, Joshua gave her a pair of diamond earrings.

“That’s true! Prior to that, I bought him a bicycle. Actually, it has become a practice for Josh and me to gift each other with something as a token of our friendship. When we did First Time before, he gave me a watch. In return, I gave him a blanket. It’s natural for us.

“But that doesn’t mean we are already in a relationship. I’m still young and so is he. For the record, Josh is not courting me!”

What if he’ll eventually find another girl and court her?

“Of course, I’ll be happy for him! But admittedly, I’ll be a little sad because that would mean more time to spend with the girl he courts and less with me. We can’t bond that much anymore unlike now. If ever that happens, I’ll truly miss him,” ends Barbie.
