Low-budget art is very in with the recent recession, and Nokia?s recent competition, The Nokia Shorts Competition, is one of many contests arising out of a combination of a struggling economy and a dire need for creativity to help drive sales. The Nokia Shorts Competition was a search for who could make the best short film using only a cell phone camera. Armed with only his Nokia N8 cell phone, JW Griffiths won with his short film ?Splitscreen: A Love Story?.

Although JW Griffiths did not come without experience, previously directing commercial ads, JW found it no problem to create something beautiful on a very low budget. Using cinematography tricks such as a Steadicam, he filmed this short film with great skill.
