This one took me much longer to get through than this one: Conversations with the Fat Girl, which was laugh-out-loud, page turning funny funny funny. But it was good none the less.
It was harder for me to get through this book because I was completely moved, shaken, rocked by Confessions with the Fat Girl. So I kept waiting for this one to be just like that. It wasn't until I was about 2/3 of the way through that I reminded myself that if Lia Palmer only wrote hilarious books about fat girls (which I love), she would never evolve as a writer. It was then that I was able to get into "Seeing Me Naked".
I came to really care about the characters. I wanted the main character, Elisabeth, to wind up with Daniel so much that I was groaning to myself whenever something went wrong. It seems to be Liza Palmer's style to push the characters together, then yank them apart, several times throughout her books. It is frustrating! But in a good way, because then I keep coming back to find out what happens.
This book was such a departure from her first novel. In the end, I really loved how it wasn't about your typical every day girl. I mean, Elisabeth is a typical girl, but she is the daughter of a famous author, the sister of another famous author, and the daughter of an heiress. So throughout the whole book, she is looking for some sense of normalcy. I liked that.
So anyway....this book: Seeing Me Naked
Brooke Moss.
