Okay.
So I've given the great and powerful Danielle Steel two strong tries over the past few months, and she fell short both times.
Big Girl...I had such high hopes for you! It was a great idea for a great book, but alas. It was a let down. Too much inner dialogue, not enough actual dialogue. As I was reading, I heard the workshop leaders I listened to a few weeks ago, screaming in my head:
SHOW ME, DON'T TELL ME!
And alas, she didn't. She told me. And told me and told me and told me and told me.
At one point I felt like I was finishing the book purely out of principal, and nobody likes reading a book for that reason.
I guess this is the kind of shizzle a writer can crank out when they've been in the game as long as Ms. Steel, after all, she's the one with the contract, and I'm not. But Big Girl lends the question, "....Why?"
Brooke Moss.
