So I promised a post on Sasha Grey. Some of you know exactly who she is. I on the other hand had to see her referenced on a blog I found at Ferdinand's place. She placed #97 in the top 100 of Ask Men's beautiful women edition. The comment from the blog author wasn't complimentary so I had to see who she was. Wow. She. Is. Something.
When something or someone sparks my fancy I become a little obsessional about research. She fascinated me. I've watched her porn, her YouTube videos/interviews plus I've watched her guest appearance on Tyra Banks.
Why am I fascinated? Her beauty is a place to start. This girl, who is now 22, is movie star gorgeous. Secondly she is pretty smart. She can hold an interesting conversation. She is very confident and seems to be driven by her own motives rather than the motives of others which if not really true she sounds very believable.
She claims to have chosen porn as a career after watching a fair amount of it on the Internet and because her and her boyfriend at the time (17 years old) had experimented extensively with boundary pushing sexuality. It was when she wanted to go further than he could take her, she decided to research the industry. After just turning legal age (18) she found an agent, and withing six months had made over 80 adult films. It was at this point she was interviewed on Tyra Bank's show. It should be mentioned that this pretty, young, underage looking girl was in hardcore films. On the TV show she claimed to have been the inspiration behind a toilet licking scene in one movie she was in. Sasha was and is known for being the dirtiest girl in the industry at the ripe ole' age of 18 and 1/2. According to Sasha the show was manipulated to show her as stunned and unresponsive to criticism. I believe it. It is Tyra's show after all and she needs to reign supreme.
I understand (not condone) the condemnation, in fact the nation feels as Tyra does. Or does it? Sasha Grey made a transition into mainstream films in 2009 Steven Soderbergh's The Girlfriend Experience. She also models outside of the pornographic industry. She also has a role on the hit TV show Entourage. Grey owns her own agency, L.A. Factory Girls, and is likely going to retire very rich if all her money doesn't go in her veins, a rumour that circulates. Sasha Grey believes or espouses female empowerment with her choices - she says she's pushing the boundaries of her own sexuality but also says she's showing women they can own their own sexual experience.
I have wondered about who I would be if I were born much later than I'd been born. I, like Sasha, was exposed to pornographic material at an early age, I was 12. I babysat for a family that had stacks of Playboy and Penthouse in their living room. I loooooved to babysit for this family. It was my first exposure to sex and it was an education. Already a voracious reader you can imagine how I gobbled the materials. By age 13 I'd found kink. No longer content with vanilla materials I found harder and harder core reading. By 14 I was writing my own erotica. It would be years before I'd have a sexual experience with a partner, but I was educated in how it all worked.
I wonder if I'd had Internet exposure if I would have one day contacted an agent and said I want to explore my sexuality on camera. We all know I'm an exhibitionist. I'm not saying I was as beautiful as Miss Sasha Grey but I was a hottie in my time and I have no doubt the industry would have snapped up an intelligent, sexually advanced young girl.
By the grace of a higher power I will never have to know. I met my ltr at 20 and he promptly took me off the market meaning I never had the chance to explore sexually with other partners. Not to say I didn't explore with him.
I will watch with some interest the career of Sasha, a girl I feel somewhat a very strange kinship with. I auditioned for our National Theater School and she auditioned for porn school. She made it, I didn't. I'm glad I'm where I'm at. I hope she's as happy as I am when she reaches my age.
