The Dating Scene

My hair stylist has set me up with a date. The last time I was there I told her I was taking a break from marathon dating and was quite enjoying the respite. I haven't been telling dating stories because the simple truth is I haven't been dating. The last date I had was prior to Christmas (gasp!) and that was with a dude who'd dropped out of my life suddenly. He re-entered in December and I thought perhaps I could finally finish my ever evolving book on dating and love (or lack of). The story was too fantastical. He was an older man with charm and intelligence and found me interesting (who wouldn't -heh). We were communicating by phone, email and in person, and than bam he dropped off my radar. I thought it was weird but he had expressed concern at our age difference so I figured he chickened out. That was August of 09. In December he reappeared with this story: He'd been in a serious car crash in which a friend had died, he had been in a coma for eight weeks and he'd been in rehab right up until the week before he called me. Wow! What a final chapter huh? Except this wasn't to be. His brain injury would prevent any possibility of a future. We had two dates and it was clear to me that his memory - short term was severely affected. Sad.

I decided to take a break and focus on Christmas holidays, my work and plan a vacation. While getting ready for the vacay I got my hair done, my stylist, who is awesome by the way, asked about my love life and I told her about my withdrawal from the 'scene'. She obviously didn't take my need to heart and contacted a customer of hers and asked him to call me. I went on my trip and since returning we've spoken on the phone three times. I think he sounds like a nice guy. I have no clue what he looks like. I know he's a runner and works out as much as I do - he's taller but not by much and he's single. I don't know anything else about his appearance. I told him I'm desiring to get fitter and work out a fair amount and I have curves in the appropriate places - I didn't say anything else. Tomorrow we meet. He drives a Mustang so that's how I am to identify him tomorrow.

He says he's quite nervous to meet me. He likes how I sound and is interested in getting to know me better, he's identified he has his hopes up. Personally I'm trying to keep my expectations low.

I'll keep you updated.
